I too use percentages and am a fusspot about having clean workspace, enough measuring instruments to not ever cross contaminate any of my liquids, be they concentrate, PG, VG or Nic. I would never actually sell what I make though (unless it's to sell off the lower nic juices I'm no longer vaping) as I'm too aware of how easy it is to f*ck up. Having done it once or twice.

The calculator I use is E-Liquid Recipe Mixing Calculator With PG/VG Percent Adjusting - there are several calculators there that you can use - from the bare bones to one like I've linked to where you can use several flavours. One thing I like about it is that I can give the mix a name and then bookmark the results. I keep a bookmark folder in Firefox for my results. One folder for Nic and PG/VG combos (80/20, 70/30, etc) and another for flavours and concentrates. That way I can go back to a recipe and follow it again and again. I take my laptop into the kitchen and have it on a separate table so I can go check it as needed.

OH. Another hint. Do NOT have other things on the counter where you are doing your mixing. I used to have a box with my concentrates on the counter and one time as I was getting the excess air out of a syringe ended up with juice all over my stuff. I really did not enjoy that clean up job. So now it's only what I'm mixing on the counter.

You may find depending on whether you use PG or VG based Nic it could alter the overall result and/or flavour as PG will provide better flavour but some people are allergic to it & that's why they use either a high % or pure VG based blend which is worse for (some) equipment, apparently the stardusts wick better with VG but I haven't got mine in yet to test so I'll have a play around and get back to you on that one, most people agree in general PG is better for your equipment especially cartomizers (less clogging, longer lifespan)

truth is I only even began to read how to diy about 2 weeks ago but it was a solid two weeks, 80% of my mixes worked, friends think they are great and i'm pretty much set to go I just need other peoples opinions on my juices (experienced vapers) as my guinea pigs were all new vapers with nothing to compare to, but I enjoyed them, but I just can't top the HC brand RY4 it's still my all day vape except my own menthol mix (15% mix PA concentrate) for clearing out my sinus's. DIY is easy but you just need to read read read and ask the dumb questions get .comghed at, fuck it up a few times and learn from it

lucky for me I have a food scientist and biochemist in my household so they can assist with the lab safety/anti bacteria and advice on what flavour mixes might end up as a good concoction, expect some great things in a few months when I concentrate more on DIY - my personal line of juice will be called Oz-E-Juice and I hope it's fantastic.

Looking forward to giving it a try! Food scientists and biochemists can be very helpful ;) lucky guy.

If you like the RY4 from HC make sure you get some of their caramel (if you haven't already) - it's definitely a familiar, and important note in many RY4 recipes. I think you'd be able to make a better RY4 if you started off with HC caramel. I've got a massive bottle of it that I'll never use up, it's pretty damn potent.

Do you use ethyl maltol? When I started using it my mixes improved heaps, it's even a really nice flavour all by itself (provided you get the right percentage)

When you find some experienced vapers to test your mixes on - make sure you put it in a half-way decent looking bottle, and make sure it's labelled clearly. Give them a paragraph description of the flavour before they've sampled it...I've found these things can actually make a big difference in peoples perceptions. I don't know how you feel about adding colouring...I'd personally prefer my juices to have no extra colouring, but again...that kind of thing can make a difference with how it's perceived.

colour could potentially kill attys faster. I know it gunks up coils faster in my ody =( so no added color is a bonus.

Put me down for testing phirex! i am a chef (amongst other trades) so have a pretty good palette =)
