place holder thread for my about to start ego C atty experiments.
had an atty go open just before and decided to see what can be done with it, is it rebuildable..
my thoughts are .. the heater is great in these, the limiting factor for vape superbness is the wicking system.
so i had thoughts on replacing the top with a larger wicking system. at its simplest .. removing the top off the atty and fitting a large wick into a tank, this wick then can directly contact the heater .. now its likely it will just leak everywhere, but thats what experiments are for.

while i had a dead atty and a pocketknife in hand ..

seems there is some sort of hard resin glue holding the ceramic part in. the silicon comes out the bottom, bottom contact just pushed into it, wire attached going thru hole in ceramic, other end of heater connects to a wire bent over and pushed between atty wall and ceramic.

more later .. chicken nuggets r done..

I usually use tapatalk uploads which are larger and sufficient but it is simply not working at the moment. not sure if i have used up my hosting limit .. not getting a warning, it uploads .. just end up with a question mark for an image.

i got hundreds on photobucket .. have a browse http://photobucket.com/albums/yy227/stonemull

so i wrapped about 8 turns of 32 .comge round a wire alongside of a clearo wick, the thick stuff. removed wire ..
used some silver plated kynar wire and soldered to the heater with aluminium solder, seemed to work fine but its not a tiny solder joint like the originals.
pushed the other end of the heater through the ceramic and up the side instead of soldering a second wire,
pulled it all into position, resoldered the wire to the atty centre, reassembled.
coil is pretty big and jammed itself into the ceramic in a U shape. was not fussed about shorts .. came in at 3.4Ω .. a bit higher than i expected.
    dumped the spike and plate.
pulled bottom off tank, doubled over a thick wick and left the loop out the bottom to contact the heater.

seems to be wicking well, attached ECDmeter and kept cranking the volts up till i hit 6.8W .. 4.9v on provari.
    meter says .. 3.47Ω, 6.7W, 1.35A, 4.86V

flavour .. bleh mostly, down a lot from ego C usual.
vapour .. seems quite a bit more.

not flooding yet, will see how it goes.

this was just practice with an easy silica wick, next time will try winding a tiny little genesis in the ego atty.

bought some steel and a cutoff saw today and added a few more fluoros to the shed, might get a tube bender next.. i feel inspired.

while i have the microscope plugged in and playing with photobucket, heres under the display on the ECDmeter ..
    quite happy with the soldering..

Your soldering is much better than mine nowadays, I had heaps of problems wiring up all the balance leads on the battery pack to a D25 connector :( Got it eventually though, but a pain.

If your buying a bender to bend tubing, get a roller bender. My pipe bender just crushes tube.

my brother bought one week before last, will turn 10mm steel plate into circles. thats only 200m away, i like my own toys though..
tried filling tube with sand first ??

like this one i reckon Baileigh Industrials Tube Roller R-M10

he has a dredge with paddle wheels bit over a meter diameter, it needed new reinforcing around the edges, was quoted $380 to get 2 bits of metal shaped, so more toys for the workshop. took 4 goes to get the first one right though :)

That's a good one, I was looking at a cheap chinese one.

The problem with the pipe bender is that it will bend 50mm water pipe, just not good on 1mm wall thickness chrome-moly ;) It kinks the tubing and even sand doesn't help it.

Next one won't have quite so many bends either, it'll be a *bit* more traditional but still custom :)

after i looked at the pic .. it just looks like that one, its the chinese copy of it though, similar size .. i think he said it was $900.
works fine, no effort at all to bend plate.
