I have dripping mods, don't really need another. If it didn't have that stupid swing arm, maybe.

Let me see oif I got this right....this thing sets the wattage when the circuit is complete, that is, it has the volts from the battery and the resistance from the attys and converts it into the set wattage -- correct? And when the voltage drops and/or the resistance increases it auto-corrects, right? Its a power regulator that has the circuitry to depress down to the desired wattage? I'm just trying to understand....:)

  3. This is it Rip exactly rip, but most of the time it will be boosting up.

So it must have a capacitor aspect, then, to store power? Maybe I'm overthinking but will it be limited by the time it takes to recharge the system after discharging fully?

No rip. It pulls more juice from the batt and converts the it to higher voltage. That is why you need to use high drain batts.

So it pulls more juice than the batt normally delivers - -won't that kill battery life?

If you mean between charges? Yes, When it is boosting the voltage. But that is why you need to use a high drain batt. They are designed to have the ability to release more power at a faster rate safely.

  8. Rip the regualr IC Li-Ions have a max discharge rate of 2C which for a 2200 mah is 4.4A and 3.0A for a 300mah.

A AW High Drain IMR 18650 has a discharge rate of upwards of 10C which for 1600 mah would be 16A.

As you can see if the chip needs power it will try and take it from the battery. if the battery is not up to the demands of the chip then it will eventually crap out the battery, an IMR can take the discharge rate due to its ability to let go of so much power so quickly.

As far a charge to charge battery life you will see a differrence because the chip is keep your wattage at a steady level.

Say you set it for a consumption of 9 watts under load. That is quite close to what a 90%-100% 18650 puts out on it own.
Now lets say you vape on it for two hours or so. Now the battery has been run down to a lower voltage and the chip is consuming energy from the battery to keep its internals at full charge to deliver the 9 Watts you have set it for.

The more you use it the faster it eats up the energy the battery delivers because with each vape you lower the batteries voltage just like you would regularly but this chip is consuming it at a slightly higher rate to keep boosting the energy to the atty.

    Does that make sense?

    Yes!!! LOL

  10. OK well now we got that out of the way.

Am I the only one that feels slightly jaded?

Darwin disks that are intentionally sub par with the original design......
iAtty 2 that is ridiculously expensive comparatively......
People that would rather highlight themselves rather than congratulate others....

WTH is going on here in the vaping world?

  11. :hmmm: Well, whatcha gonna do? It is what it is.. I don't remember the tobacco companies doing me any favors either. :greedy:

As any industry grows and small independent business becomes corporate. Quality goes down and/or price goes up. Profit margins increase for average quality products as the companies save cost on manufacture by cutting corners or not spending money those little extras or purposefully not making it as good as they could to bump up sales of more expensive products they sell. In contrast to stand out high end quality become expensive because they do ALL the extra bells and whistles and spend more money perfecting their product (usually lower profit margin).

You can either buy an "okay" quality at an affordable price or you have to pay big bucks for good quality products. Either you're disappointed with the product because it isn't quite what you wanted or you feel like you paid to much for the one you really wanted and has all the cool perks. :(

IMO you generally get what you pay for but sometimes you can't justify the price of the really nice pieces. I am sure the iAtty 2 is amazing and would perform better then most products on the market... but I just can't bring myself to pay THAT much for it regardless of the performance.

Note: haven't had coffee yet... Sorry if rambling, grammar errors or non sequiturs. ;)

This is why I love my Clockworks Rebuildables, Hoyt. Half the price of all the other rebuildable atomizers on the market, and kickass performance. The bigger guys may be getting greedy, but the modder's aren't through yet.

Is clockworks a local USA guy or would it be some ridiculous shipping to get one here?

Ya know the funny thing is after I quit smoking and moved to vaping. I have received so many things in the mail from Marlboro
