    Yes dowel will certainly do the trick. I will be trying both methods with the dowel. Those syringes seem pretty tough until one tries to cut them....

    Which one did you end up going for? I was good and just bought a cobalt blue glass tube, and getting replacement O-rings so it's not so slidey....
