The U.S. state of Wisconsin has begun implementing a new state law. The state law requires vape shops to obtain a retail license. Prior to Wisconsin Act 73, Senate Bill 268, in 2023, retailers who only sell vapes are not required to have a license.

Portage County Community Health Educator Bryar Drexler comments on this. He says the law will help regulate nicotine product sales in the state.

"There is so many vaping devices out there that are not regulated. So having just a small amount of regulation is really good for our retailers and just the community as a whole. Since it has become such a go to device for nicotine consumption."

Recently, the state's Department of Finance reissued an updated retail license form, CTV-100. Currently, the licensing fee for tobacco and vape shops is $100.
