In fact, Rodgers believed as recent as Wednesday night that he was headed to the San Francisco 49ers. The issue for the reigning NFL MVP is Green Bay’s unwillingness to commit to him long-term and some questionable player personnel moves that might have closed the Packers’ Super Bowl window.

Despite rumors of discord and Rodgers wanting out, Green Bay’s public stance remains that the 37-year-old quarterback is going nowhere. General manager Brian Gutekunst confirmed that via a press release with less than two hours to go before the annual NFL Draft.


Regardless of the Green Bay Packers’ stance, they seemingly have no other option than to trade Rodgers if reports of his unhappiness are true. And there’s no reason to believe that they are fabricated given the drama we’ve seen between the two sides since Green Bay’s NFC Championship Game loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In short, Rodgers can force his way to San Francisco or another team.


As for potential landing spots, the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders join San Francisco as preferred destinations for one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. Reports indicate that the 49ers had offered up Jimmy Garoppolo and the third overall pick in Thursday night’s draft as well as a combination of players and other picks. It’s a deal Rodgers wants the Packers to accept.
