One problem with the ego was storage. I HATE breaking down the atty/carto from the battery every time I'm done vaping for a bit, then putting it up and having to put it back together. Not a huge deal, but gets aggravating if you're like me and want to vape 4 puffs and take a 10 minute break, then vape another 4 puffs. The "solution" was the eGo style case which can hold two assembled units....that is, unless they have XL cartos. Then you risk snapping the casing off when you have to guide the assembled unit into the elastic strapping and down the pocket (If you have the case, you know what I mean. If not, just google a eGo case and you'll see). A second problem was constantly getting dirt and debris in and on the mouthpiece. Even in the case, I'd always get crap onto it. Finally I've found a solution: A cap. I tried different covers but couldn't get the look right and the fit never was spot on. I've tried just covering with the rubber caps that come with mouthpieces and cartos but that got tedious and would sometimes get juice all over it. What is it? It is a pen cap that goes on disposable insulin pens. It comes blue but I've sanded and painted it flat black to match the factory eGo battery color. You can use 800 grit or higher sandpaper and just basic flat black spray paint from a car parts store. The cap fits very tightly onto the eGo's cone (standard size cone, not Mega or carto version). The cone is cheap at about $4. Before painting, try on the cap and get a fit for the cone. Some caps are a bit tighter so any stretching now would be advantageous. DON'T shove it on all the way at this point though because I don't see a way of getting it on once it is finally pressed all the way down. After the test fit, sand it, wipe it off, paint it, and let it dry. Then take a spare cone and thread it on your eGo. Now start gently putting the cap on while lining up the pen clip with the button on the battery. Once you have it gripped a bit and lined up, unthread the cone with the cap attached. Now set it upright on a table top and press down with force onto the cap until it is flush with the bottom of the cone. Advantages are obvious so I'll just mention disadvantages: You have to lose a cone since the cap is pressed onto it. I don't like the cone whatsoever so this doesn't matter to me. But if thats a concern, buy a spare cone for $4. One version (I think the older style) button protector has a removing tab attached that will not go over the cap. The button protector I have however, fits okay if I unthread about 2 threads. I bought it at Volacnoecigs if you need one. Anyway, I love it. It's a cheap and easy to do mod that really comes in handy for me. View attachment 994 View attachment 995 View attachment 996 View attachment 997
