Safety of Ethyl Maltol

I don't usually post in this sub forum be.comse I don't do DIY. But I keep hearing about this flavouring/sweetner and for some reason the name makes me nervous. It sounds like something that might not be completely safe to inhale.

I'm pretty sure it's in almost all of the juices I vape be.comse they are mainly desserts, particularly with a caramalised sugar taste that I love. Does anyone know of any studies or information about the safety of inhaling it?
