Capacitors

In many of the spec sheets for regulators it shows that it is recommended that a 10uf or greater capacitor be used.

Most will put the 10uf Caps in there but I am thinking that maybe I would step it up some and use a 50uf or maybe even a big old 100uf.

What fall backs would I be looking at to using a larger capacitor to help keep the current steady for the regulator to do its thing. I hate to start a good long hit then go back for seconds and it seems that the power is just not sufficient and get a weak hit.

I don't exactly have a plethora of caps but I have 2 kinds, ones a 16v 10MFD and the others a 25v 220uf...so ones a 10 uf and ones a 220...the 220 I use on other electronics but I did test it on a breadboard and I don't see there being a huge difference at 5v on my VV mod but it may have a bigger difference on something thats in the 6 - 7v range that blows through more power.

Yeah I was not sure that it would make a huge difference.

I am hoping when I get back to tinkering with a regulated mod that a larger capacitor will help for Multiple hit vaping like I do.

I vape like a pipe smoker, I hit it hard and a few times back to back and some of the mods I have tried have a hard time keeping up.

Maybe it was a 3.7 boosted to 5V I cant remember but I do remember that it was not keeping up by the third hit.

Anyway I wanted to get some ideas of you modders out there to see if y'all thaough tthat a higher capacitance rated capacitor helped any at all.

I'm interested in using other capacitors as well.
I have TONS of old computers and leftover parts from old electronics and I'd love to be able to scavenge things from them instead of buying more parts.

I use 16v 100uf SMD tantalum on the input and output of all my mods. UF doesnt really change the overall size ,the voltage rating does. General guideline is to use 2/3 the voltage more than what it will see.
