I epoxy the top upper and lower side for strength hard to see but you get the idea sand flush

Do your cutout and holes for your tank switches and the lexan for your led
Test fit all parts at this time

At this time build your atomizer connection holder and epoxy in
I use the tank and connection for the fit
Put the positive connection end in at 2and 3/8 from bottom and epoxy
Put the positive connection in and wire together

Sand and your ready for paint

Use automotive primer paint and clear coat
Finished paint now it’s time to put ten pounds of shit in a five pound box

    Wire the Digital potentiometer
    Red positive
    Green power up and down
    10k resistor
    Black ground
Notice tie positive and negative jump across both sides

    Wire the mosfet
    Wires in order
    Red positive
    Black to led
    Black to tactical switch
Wire a 1k resistor between the positive and tactical switch side

Put two red wires on the switch
Two black on the negative connection

Attach one red from switch to the positive connection
One of the negative to the three tactical switches the other one into the box

  3. Wire the mosfet to the center tactical switch the second black to the led neg after you put it in with epoxy

Add one blue wire to the led as seen

At this point put epoxy on your lexan screen

Put the led in take your time and hold it in place for about five minutes

    Wire the PTN 04050
    Black ground
    Red voltage in
    Green adjust
    Blue voltage out

Wire the two green wires to the switches
Add the capacitors and you’re done with the wires

    Looks so easy :D (Not)

Thanks very much for this, will look for ideas to incorporate.

  7. Dave, what was the approximate total time involved in making one of these not counting the paint job? Also, what is the required skill level where #1 is plugging in a toaster and #10 is rebuilding an automatic trans or a complete engine overhaul. Lastly, estimated cost of parts.:)

I have 4 years of high school electronics and about 2-3 years of college electronics. Still have most of my tools and equipment, just lack the confidence and patience.;) In other words, do you think someone like me could build one of these? Also, maybe I shouldn't have used the rebuilding the automatic trans or the complete engine overhaul as an example because although I can do them both, I am not so sure that I could build one of these box mods.;)

You'd want spares if you attempted this Keith, probably 3 of the plastic boxes etc .. But if things go well the spares may go to other builds.

Keith without paint 6 maybe 7 hours, i had about 10 in it with the paint. This build is hard about an 8, but i think with a electronics background you will be fine. parts cost is about 60 bucks.

my wife doesnt vape but she is an A&P and thinks she can whiz these things right out. she graduated at the top of her class and did quite well in avionic electronics. so lets see what she can do :) her lookin @ this thing sparked some interest and i may have me a new mod sooner than expected :)

I really like the look of your mod. Good job!!!

I have 4050 chips, switches, boxes but the biggest I don't have is soldering skills. Lol

Until I can find the time, I will.continue to collect parts. Lol

    custom signature goes here___________________ :)

If she takes her time on the layout she will do fine that is really the only hard part

Well, I am a painter who is a perfectionist so a paint job should take me maybe 2 days( I prefer multiple thin coats with adequate drying time and lots of clear) and putting together the electronics maybe about a full day ( I am ocd when it comes to solder neatness). ;) I would probably hesitate to even attempt this but may give it a try if gathering the parts are not too hard to obtain.

Keith I have an extra 4050c chip and a switch, while its not the same one its as good as the switched used here.

Pm your addy and they are yours.

I got a few of.the chips from TI before and a few switches from TKK. They are very good switches just not.like the one on your mod or mine.

Thanks Jeff but I am still not sure that I am ready to take on this challenge. ;) Right now I am soaking of my Precious units tops in a lacquer thinner solution trying to dissolve the epoxy that is hiding all the electronics. I planned to see what made it tick so that I can purchase all the necessary parts and build my own out of stainless. If anyone here is familiar with touch sensors, I will probably be needing some help so let me know if any of you are capable.

PS, Dave, would you like me to enlarge all of your pics so no need to click on the thumbnails?
