Batteri safety !!

Hi

I use a silver bullet with 2 x tenergy rcr 123a 3 volt batteries.


My question is : Is there any risk of those two batteries blowing up in my face ?

i know they are protected batteries, but still !!

THATS always a chance with any li-ion batteies!!! but far less a chance with protected !!! And the SB is a lot safer and much better designed device than the DETONATOR!!! I'D wouldn't worryabout it!!!!!!!!

 

Of course there is a risk, especially when you are stacking batteries. These are cheap things that are made cheaply, shit happens. They were never designed for the high, quick current draw we put them through, especially if you are using Joye atties.

Use some common sense. Check them periodically with a meter when they come off the charger to make sure they aren't being overcharged. Also check now and then before charging to make sure they are pretty similar as far as voltage drop.

 

Yes they can, but unlikely from the SB, can happen with a short in a faulty atty.

can someone please explain what is meant by a protected battery? does this protect against overcharging or heat or ????

 

protected batteries have a PCB- protection circuit module.
it protects batteries from over-charging and over-discharging.
never use Liion unprotected batteries especially when using in parallel.
Unprotected/low quality batts have exploded in the past while used in PVs..

When buying chargers and batteries go for quality, not quantity

Anyway, I didn't see this thread before I posted mine, I think it has the same link as Mitrich's. I used to be an electronics technician before becoming a Navy Corpsman. I didn't know that much about batteries before vaping (probably still don't know nearly as much as I should), but I do feel like people starting to do their own mods need to know certain things like Ohms Law, what a Watt is, the difference between mAh and mA is, etc. That and shrink wrap can be your one of your best friends against short circuits when soldering.
So who makes the best protected batteries out there for mods? I see a lot of people using Trustfire and Surefire, are there others out there? Who makes the worst protected batteries, the ones that the proctective circuit almost never works on and you end up with a face full of vaporized Li and a missing hand?
