Lovely. Lets make sure that we don't pay attention to the fact that this is crippling people who are trying to kick the habit. One of the biggest incentives for me was that what I spent in three days as a smoker I spent in a month as a vaper. Taking away the financial incentive of it takes away a lot of the will some people might have. I mean if it's just as expensive as smoke, why not keep poisoning ourselves!

Oh no, this is terrible news. How could they do this? Right, they're the government, they can do anything they want. Why are they equating vaping with smoking, that's not a fair comparison. First of all, kids shouldn't be able to buy vapes even off the internet. That's why I recommend the use of credit cards and a confirmation call before buying vape devices online. Second of all, if it's just for the kids, why is it also affecting us the adults? Is this yet another tactic by the government so the tobacco company won't lose out?

Tobacco kills that's why there's a sin tax to it. It kills the one who smokes it and the people around him who gets secondhand smoke. Is there any study that vapour has such effects? From all studies that I've read, the amount of nicotine in vapes are very low to even cause any effect.

If anything, they should create stricter laws so kids cannot buy vaping devices at their young age. But not to the extent that adult vapers are affected. Sigh...

That is pretty nuts crazy. How much do they tax on regular cigarettes? If it were the same amount, then I guess it isn't too bad, but if it is higher, then something is seriously wrong here.

I also don't understand why a government would do something like that, and the whole vaping issue just becomes a nonsense if they're going to put that kind if tax in it.

While I think the majority of people who vape will switch for health reasons, money is also a factor, and with the link in mind, people will just go back to smoking instead now.

Is that what they want people to do though, and if it is, the question has to be why?

If there's money in it the government will tax it. I expect it to become more and more expensive of an activity for myself. Thankfully I have a decent job that can support my enjoyment of vaping haha. We'll see though. I hope they don't start hiking up taxes here in California.

I can see how the government wants to make a lot of money on e-cigarettes, but why that much? It should be cheaper than regular cigarettes as it is supposed to be a healthier alternative to it. Most people are going to want to go to the least expensive option...

People these days are already struggling financially so you're right, people will just keep smoking if they feel that the price of vaping is too expensive.

Why would the government inflict that kind of tax on something that's supposed to be better for you than the alternative?

i know it would happen somewhere sooner or later. Lets just hope it is an isolated event and it doesn't snow ball.

That's the risk now I think though, and if one authority or government gets away with implementing this, then more and more will try to do the same.

Sooner or later we're all expecting a tax hike on vaping but this is simply too high and should be at least challenged.

That is the tobacco industry fighting with all their power to crush vaping, but they will fail at that.

It wouldn't be too surprising to see the sponsor of that bill being connected to the tobacco industry. It just seems weird that a state like Vermont would pass something like that. The better approach is to just tax it the same as cigarettes.

Yeah, sadly it would not be surprising to see that as it happens in quite a few researches financed by those companies.

I guess that it was just a problem of time until the sneaky government would try and get its insanely high taxes on vaping as it did with cigarettes before. I remember how the priced raised 5 times in less than 15 years. Sadly, this will for sure get applied all over the world, as the governments seems to have the habit of copying what other governments do and tax.

The sneaky government gets more money and at the same time makes they tobacco lobby happy, so it's a win win situation for them.

It's going to be awkward when vaping gets bigger and all of these tobacco companies dive head first into the vaping industry. They'll have to lobby the opposite way and spend money to redo all of the damage they've done. I've heard some are already getting into the vape business, which only makes sense.

I do not think that the politicians or government people behind taxes understand how the cigarette and smoking industry makes profit. Putting tax on vape gear does not help a lot
