Some one (uneducated about vaping) said to my partner the other day that vaping is stupid and costs the same as smoking cigarettes. I know that it costs so much less for us, apart from the initial investment of buying a good ecig, fluid is a lot cheaper than one packet of cigs. So what do you guys think? Have you saved a tonne by quitting and switching? What have you done with the extra cash if anything- I've spent it on rubbish probably!

So what do you guys think?
    • For me, like you have said, the initial investment in a vape is the pricey part. But beyond that, you can definitely save money as compared to smoking cigarettes. Unless of course you spend so much on new mods, devices and juices. And that can happen for the first few weeks, it did to me. But as I became more experienced and learned to research before buying, the savings were very obvious.
Have you saved a tonne by quitting and switching?
    • Yes! Actually, I'm not much of a heavy vaper, especially now. So the savings have been piling up and I love it. Whereas before, I used to spend a lot on cigarettes, since I smoke a pack a day. The great thing about vaping is, there are online stores. Sometimes, they even give some promotions or discounts which can help you save money as well.
What have you done with the extra cash if anything- I've spent it on rubbish probably!
    • I actually save up any excess money I have, the same goes for any money I saved since I quit smoking. Maybe we'll spend it on our next trip or maybe on a new gadget that I can use for earning money. I'm still thinking.:p

I am saving money for sure and I don't need to think that hard. Cigarettes cost a lot more than vaping, so long term it's a huge save!

It's nearly impossible to spend more on vaping than traditional cigarettes. Unless you are smoking one cigarette a day, e-juice is so much cheaper. $30 worth of juice will easily last you a month. That's like three pack of cigarettes for that cost.

I definitely agree, here in the Uk a pack of 30 cigarettes is now £8 something. Which is just bonkers! I used to smoke 20 a day and apart from feeling pretty rubbish, it hit my bank balance hard! Now I buy a bottle of 30ml juice for around £6 and that lasts me nearly 3 weeks. I feel a lot healthier for it too. I wish I'd saved up the money I've saved but with having two kids it wasn't really an option, any money 'spare' ends up being spent on them! Well done to missvape for having some willpower and saving up! We could all do with following your ideology!

I'm spending a little more, but I have switched from hookah to vaping so it's a little different. Hookah cost me about 5$ a pack for a weeks worth of tobacco, while vape juice cost me about 10$ for about 8-10 days worth depending on how much I smoke. I also got all my hookah/shisha stuff cheap from overseas though.

Um? I saved so much...you can get a month's worth of juice for so cheap buying in bulk or just buying what's on sale...you don't have options like that with cigarettes. On top of that, the juice lasts longer and costs less overall, 3 packs of cigarettes is NOT 1 good tank, no no no. It adds up over the year, probably within a few months you break even with even a nice rig

I'm not actually saving lots of money by vaping, but I am definitely having money for other activities. Let me make clear the difference, yes vaping saves me lots of money, but I'm just saying that I'm not setting them aside as the term saving suggest, that at the end of the month you'd have a surplus of money in your pocket, I simply find better way than before to spend them, for example, sometimes I grab a snack on the run, which before vaping I couldn't afford on a daily basis, and sometimes I would buy some expensive cheese, as I've always been a fan of sophisticated tastes.

I haven't tallied up total costs, but I think I am. I mean I was spending on average about 6 dollars a pack of cigarettes. If I went into some of the local casinos you could get packs for about $4.50. A pack would last me about 2-3 days. I was spending about 10 dollars weekly on cigarettes. Now I just buy juice, and a small bottle will last for quite some time.

As all the good stuff, the initial cost is clearly higher compare to a pair of cigarette boxes. But you has more bang for you buck with sing only a juice than several cigarette's boxes. Unless, perhaps, someone smoke a cigar per month. Something that, of course, is laughably impossible considering how addictive are those death wish straws.

Have you saved a tonne by quitting and switching?
I'm not a former smoker so not. Zero money wasted on cigarettes. My savings are well and safe :).

What have you done with the extra cash if anything- I've spent it on rubbish probably!
Give me a moment to take a look at my GOG.com account. Oh my! Heh well, quite a penny I've already spent yes.

Sorry if I am slightly naïve, but what is hookah? That's interesting elatedmist, that you're not an ex smoker. What made you start vaping? I don't actually think I've met anyone who vapes who wasn't initially a smoker.

The issue with extra cash is that it disappear as fast as it comes as I usually spend everything I have... I can spend on healthier things though.

If you vape for a fair period of time then yes you will save money (you will also need to consider the cost of the device when you're working out whether you are saving or not). The fluid is much cheaper than the cigarettes that you would have bought in the past. I think it is a great idea to put the money that you're saving into a box as this means that you would be able to see the difference in what you're spending. That should help you to realise just how much money you were wasting before!

Make sure that box is sealed up though, and you can't see just how much is in there. If you have the willpower not to open it and spend it till after 6 or 12 months, that's when you'll only truly understand just how much you've saved.

That's a brilliant idea. I'm not sure I'd have the will power though to actually keep it sealed! If I wanted some new clothes or something I could be tempted to open it!

Yes I would save a fortune by vaping instead of smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes depending on how much you smoke can cost a lot of money, anywhere around 3k-10k extra dollars a year and that can be over the top especially for a teen!

I do save now that I'm vaping, but i'm not really sure how much. I've never added it up, and I just wind up spending whatever I save, anyways. I'm sure it seems small now, but I view it as a long term thing. Over years, that small savings will add up to quite a bit.

Well, I'm actually trying to quit smoking by making vaping a replacement, so yes, I believe I am saving money. I am trying to regulate how much I use it, and compared to the cigarettes, this method is definitely cheaper.

Yeah, no question there at all @OursIsTheFury, apart from the initial investment everything else is cheaper.

I guess I could add it up how much I've saved but it would probably take me a while! I guess I just know it's an awful lot. Cigarettes are ridiculously expensive these days. If you can find some juice you love and that isn't expensive you're on to a winner!
