I have always been really into figuring out what possibly might be wrong with new products that have yet to be approved by the FDA. When vaping came about, I was a big skeptical but did some research to find that there really wasn't any research conducted to give me any valuable information about the benefits and/or dangers of vaping.

I remember when it first started and after a few months there was a story on CNN about a man whose face had been apparently blown off from an overheated vape e-cig. After that, I was somewhat discouraged about vaping but after awhile I decided to delve back into the research and try to find valuable information regarding it. of course the only thing that showed up on my search query would always be that guy getting his face blown off.

Does anyone have any valuable information other than negativity about vaping. This will really help me make a more informed decision on whether to continue vaping or not. Thank you in advance. All comments, adivice, etc is welcomed.

Independently if that history is true or not, what is not really true is that vaping could be that harmful, as you can clearly see and you said it yourself, the guy got his face blown because of the vaper's battery, not because of vaping, perhaps there was something wrong with his battery and because of that it just happened, but I do not really think there is anything wrong with vaping, that is my opinion though.

As long as you get quality equipment and e-juice, it is relatively safe to use. The issue arises with inhaling any type of smoke into your lungs. That is bad no matter what, whether it is from cigarettes or e-cigs/vaporizers. Vapes and e-cigs appear to have far less chemicals than traditional cigarettes, so one is certainly better to use that the other.

That is more of an issue with the vape he was using. I have not heard of this epidemic of vaporizer batteries blowing up in peoples' faces. You are right in saying that shouldn't be a big concern for people who want to start vaping.

Yeah I heard about that. It blew a hole in the roof of his mouth and knocked a couple of vertebrae out of place. He probably had a very cheap setup. I don't think it's much to worry about. It's kind of like those hoverboard things blowing up too. Some of the cheaply made ones from China had batteries that were catching on fire.

Please NEVER underestimate the dangers of electric current. And this applies for any electronic device that manage dangerous level of electric power. Always make sure that your device has functional shortcircuit, thermal and inverse polarization protection to prevent those messy accidents. Man, an overheated vaper. That's awful.

That was caused by faulty equipment. You can't generalize vaping over one incident of faulty equipment. That the equivalent of your electric outlet in your house blowing up when you plug something in and then blaming all electric outlets.

I think it's safe if you use good quality equipment, ON the scale of comparison, It sounds waayyyy healthier option than smoking cigarettes.

There are many people ( including me sometimes ) that do not do something because they just read bad stuff about that thing, it should not be like that I understand that we're always looking for pros and cons but seems like people only focus on the cons.

There's the popcorn lung thing, but that also needs more time/explanation. It also seems to only apply to deep vapers that still smoke, etc, so it's more of a "dude you better calm down" syndrome than a natural byproduct of vapes.

Wow thank you all for your great responses. From what I've gathered, most of the dangers come from low quality. I will keep that in mind and make sure that I get one of quality and actually research it a little more before I buy. I'm just an all around reluctant person to try new things and that CNN story has always stuck in the back of my mind but hey anything can happen. I'm a little less worried now , so thanks guys!

Vaping can be really safe. However, if you ever want to customize a vape you have to make sure that you put it together well or have it done by a professional.

And how many cases like that existed in the world? At most two or three, we can't just reduce everything to those cases, where some people were conducting experiments with the vaping devices batteries or they were simply very stupid.

Vaping has it's dangers, but I wouldn't consider this as one of them, first because it was not the vaping itself, but the battery who got overheated, and second because cases like this are very isolated. One of the dangers of vaping I've read about on the internet, is that if you blow out the vapors on your nose, you have big risks of getting sick because of the solution that gets vaped interacts somehow with your mucus.

Aw... It's such a shame that you only get to find the negative press about vaping. Here, I'm going to share with you some positive articles about vaping:
You can actually find positive articles and studies about vaping online. Although of course, it's inevitable to find negative articles about it as well. As much as I love vaping, many experts are still confused and not know whether it's good in the long-term, that's the major downside of it. But when it comes to comparison between vaping and smoking, no doubt that vaping is the better alternative.

So far with regards to the exploding issue, I have read about these cases. But to be honest, they are rare and these cases are isolated. If you know how to handle vaping devices and adhere by the rules, I doubt that you can get into much trouble.

    I hope this helps!

You do have to remember what you're dealing with, and you are dealing with a device that has the ability to get very hot indeed, so you should ensure that you take precautions with this very much in mind. However, with any device that has any kind of power there are risks of this type. Also, I don't think we really understand the long term risks of vaping yet, because there isn't enough research to support it, but I am sure that there will be more about it in the future for us to work with.
