    Hey everyone,

Yet another new member here and I have just started to get into vaping. I am a long term ~10 years smoker, with my cigarettes of choice being Winfield Blue. I have tried to quit smoking several times but I just can't seem to kick the habit. I am a sufferer of PTSD in addition to having a panic disorder and I find, for me atleast, smoking can really help calm me down. With that in mind I am trying to make the move from smoking cigarettes to vaping.

A friend of mine gifted me a vantage starter kit from vaper empire. To be honest I'm not really blown away as of it, the tobacco flavor that I was given doesn't really taste like tobacco to me (the taste is hard to describe, sort of fruity mixed with a metallic flavor) and the vapor feels pretty harsh for me (he got me a 24mg of nic strength) but that may just mean that the strength is too much for me. Are my experiences normal?

Thanks for any and all replies.

    Good Morning and Welcome
Lots of good advice and help here. I also started with V Empire gear and juice. It is overpriced shyte. Having said that it started me on my vaping journey so I am grateful for that. You need to read a lot from here and set your self a budget to get some decent gear and juice. Good luck with your journey and ask lots of questions.

I have not that much experience with juices but one thing I have noticed is that you can forget trying to get that "cigarette" tobacco flavour...it will never be the same taste. I don't know where you are since you profile has no info (which you may want to fill out) but if you are in the sydney area, get to steam ecigs and try some flavours, Inam sure you will find something that you like. It's a matter of trial and error, I have heaps of ejuice I will never use again, be.comse I was not able to try beforebI bought them. As far as Nicotine is concerned, if you smoked Winflield blues, like I did, IMHO 24mg nicotine is way to high. I would go to 12mg, which I did for about a month and then realised that even 6 was enough for me, but I chain vape be.comse I love it.
Don't give up on vaping yet mate and whatever you do, don't go back to the stinkies. Roam around the forum and ask for advice, the people here are awesome and always ready to help.

...I would have to agree with the 12mg strength. Its more than enough. If you end up finding yourself vaping more than you were smoking, 3-6mg could also be enough to take the edge off. Smoking cigs you say calms you down, when thats how they make us feel when in fact they actually raise our blood pressure which is not a good thing. Getting a decent genuine mod first (that suits your needs) and most importantly a decent atomizer will get you off the cigs and keep you off them. There are many out there which you will need to find through trial and error what suits your vaping experience. There are many atty clones that come up for sale in the classies which are cheap enough to buy and trial and when you have found the style that suits you, buy the genuine thing and you wont look back! As for tobacco flavour that mimics reals cigs yeah forget it. You might want to try mixing your own such as Arabic Tobacco, Cinnamon and Honey concentrates which is a great daily vape.

There is a really good mega thread in the new vapers section where a member goes to great detail explaining the nic levels and a recommended starting point.

it is not possible to replicate that ashtray taste, but there are some good baccy flavours out there. as your taste buds come back to life, your juice tastes will change... good luck!

Congratulations for getting off the durries thats a great move so well done.
For the first little while the nic throat hit will feel a bit harsh but that goes pretty quickly so dont worry about it too much. As has been stated before you wont find a flavour that matches the taste of burning tobacco but thats a good thing as you dont want a constant reminder of what your trying to leave behind. When people talk about tobacco flavours they are actually talking about someone elses interpretation of the smell of say a freshly opened pouch of champion ruby/ benson and hedges etc. Once you can get your head around the fact that it doesnt need to taste like tobacco and you can get your nic hit from something that tastes like a nice cup of coffee or fruit then it all gets easier. You will find also that you vape more than you used to smoke but thats normal as well since smoking is a more efficiant delivery system for nicotine than vaping. So I guess your experiences are pretty normal and it seems your doing ok.
Probably the one other piece of advice I could give you at this stage is to visit some of the on line e cig retailers and have a look at whats available and what nice piece of kit you would like to reward your self with as you pass your personal mile stones. Find something you like then post about it here and there will always be someone to help out and let you know if its a worth while bit of gear. Give in to shinyitis be.comse once this becomes a hobby you will probably never smoke again.
Visit here and take a look at whats out there

For the first few times just check in here before you actually buy something so someone can let you know if its an all right product or not.

I am also new to this, and have been a long time smoker about 11 years give or take. I know I'm hurting myself and am ready to get rid of these coffin nails. I wish you the best of luck.

I've only been vaping for a couple of months also, and it does take quite a lot of getting used to I've found.

I'm definitely going to stick with it and carry on, but I think on the early stages it's important to try different flavours and different strengths to find what works best for you.

Yeah, definitely keep reading a bit. It can be odd at first, but if you're doing it right, it should be smooth and pleasant. Think of how much you spend on cigarettes a year - you can easily cut that in half or less, ween off of your dependence on nicotine and inhale cheesecake if you take the time to figure it all out

I think that for the majority of people they'll use the money they save as the motivating factor to keep going, even if they might still be trying to get over their craving for cigarettes.

When you work it out over a week or a month it might not seem like a lot, but work it out on an annual basis and you'll soon realise just how much you can save by vaping.

Seriously, same is true for cannabis vapes too even though that's a bit taboo to talk about. If you just look at how much more you get out of cannabis when you vape, it's something like 15~30%, or 15 bucks on the hundred...there are people that could basically be getting their vape for free over a couple of months but choose to keep buying rolling papers or smoking out of glassware, silly business. & for the record, I can legally imbibe my cannabis here so this finally on the table to be discussed

It sounds to me like you had too much nicotine. I never got that from vaping but did get that when I smoked too many cigarettes, you might be vaping for too long. Try to reduce the time period that you vape. Vaping doesn't give you the same nicotine rush that cigarettes do, it takes a little longer.

It's pretty normal to have that flavor coming from the tobacco juice. I have never been able to describe the taste, but you hit the nail on the head with that one. I don't enjoy it too much. The vapor will definitely feel harsh while vaping something that strong. I am vaping on juices between 3-6 and find a 6 to be a bit harsh for me. I can only imagine how harsh yours is. I would look into going to a shop and trying out a few flavors and buying different mg.

Yep, exactly. The strength can be too much. Even If you're a hardcore nicotine die-hard user and fan, you have to be careful when it comes to using a completely new product. Especially, for the first time in your life.

    Hello,

I think what you need to remember is that it isn't supposed to replace smoking forever; really, it's just supposed to make it more bearable to quit - and on the most part it honestly does. You don't want to completely replace the habit, just make it a little bit easier to stop smoking. It is very difficult, but I honestly believe that these things are the reason that I have been able to quit. I don't think I will ever smoke again. I certainly don't want to, and I like to think that I now have the willpower to be able to stay away from it.

You could try smoking less and vaping more everyday until you no more feel the urge to smoke, after that, it should be easy to quit smoking I believe.

At the first sight, it's normal to "not feel right" for you, I mean you've been a smoker for more than 10 years already, you must feel smoke in order to feel normal. You need to give it a little time, as I'm sure that it'll work for you just like for the rest of us. For beginning try to replace morning cigarette with vaping, that should start familiarizing you with vaping instead of smoking, and to make you think that "vaping feels right" actually.

I sometimes get the same feeling. But, most of the time it’s me worrying too much about things I should not be worrying about. I know what I need to do I just need to do it. You are fine just stop worrying too much and watch movie called “Skull.” This movie will loosen you up a bit and relax you. Sometimes you need a good college movie to put you back into motion.

That's fairly normal for a first time user. People have to go into vaping knowing it's not going to be the same as smoking cigarettes. Just holding the device is obviously going to be much different than holding a cigarette. Hitting it feels different and smoking tobacco and juice are two different experiences.
