Today marked my 6 months off the cigarettes.

Congratulations! It's good to see that this kind of hobby is helping make changes in their lives for the better, no matter how it might be looked on by others outside the community.

 

Well done. I am well on my way to getting there. Thanks for sharing this really gives those that are starting off that extra boost of confidence.

I'm about 2 and a half months into vaping now and loving the benefits of no longer being tobacco dependent, even if I'm still slightly addicted to the nicotine. I love the way you've made vaping into a hobby as well. The way that vapes can be modified and customized so much really appeals to me and I also want to get into making my own vapes and liquids. I've only been on this forum about a week but I've learned so much already and am already quickly becoming known as a mine of useful information about vaping to my friends. Congratulations on your milestone acheivement, it must feel great, I'm looking forward to getting there myself in the near future.

 

Awesome news, congratulations to you both. I hope one day I'll also be able to say that I'm cigarette free. Still at the cutting down/swapping over stage, but getting there slowly. Reading stories like yours are always an inspiration to keep going and know that I can do it also.

While there is lots of advice floating around, just remember to tell yourself that you have this and it can absolutely be done, and if you slip too far back towards the cigarettes, don't beat yourself up about it - just get back on the horse and keep going.

 

Thanks for the advice, I haven't had a cigarette in I don't know how long but I still do get the urge every once in a while, but not as much as when I first started vaping. I think it's all psychological.

 

That surely is a good achievement. Just remember to motivate yourself everyday that why you stopped smoking those cancer sticks and why you shouldn't do it anymore to keep yourself from going back to smoking.

 

Congratulations! Six months is definitely a great achievement especially since not a lot of people can even quit cigarettes, even just for a few days. And I'm glad that vaping has been a great help for you to quit cigarettes. I used to smoke cigarettes as well, not as much as my husband, but still I know that it isn't healthy for me or the people around me. I got into vaping and ever since then, it's history. Kudos to stories like ours, I'm hoping we can inspire more people to quit cigarettes all together.

I admire you more because you were able to quit with your wife. My husband is still a chain smoker up to now. And it pains me seeing him damaging his health with the cigarettes. If only he is into vaping like I am, like you and your wife are, things could have been easier. I'm just very happy for you that you have used your relationship as a way of quitting as well. It's easier to quit when you got someone there with you, who knows the difficulties and symptoms as well. I'm hoping that one day... My husband would quit cigarettes as well.

I know this isn't easy and it means a lot to you and I'd like to say to you this, keep going on and on no matter the cirucumstances that might come through your life, you are over something that causes a lot of people die at an early age and that's something you should be proud of. You should feel PROUD to tell that as a story as something you achieved through hard work and trust me it will make you feel more important to YOURSELF in a certaain way. You have achieved something that most of the people addicted to the cigars can't and never will.

I think it's a big win and I can't boast the same. If I give up one bad habit, I immediately change it to something else. But I noticed that if I'm passionate about my work, I don't have time to go out for a smoke break often. So I try to take up a hobby or cooking in my spare time to distract myself from the desire to smoke and then I feel better. And recently I found a great article on Facebook about the importance of having things to be passionate about. Thus, I realized that a hobby can help not only get rid of bad habits but also bring back the joy of life.
