HOW MANY DROPS ARE IN 1 ML of E-LIQUID: For the purpose of this article, we used a 3 ml syringe in 1/10th ml graduations, our standard 5 ml bottle with dropper insert containing 18 mg nicotine and 50% PG/ 50% VG base mix:

HOW MANY CIGARETTES in 1 ML of E-LIQUID
: This is very difficult to calculate. It depends on the size of the "drag" you take among other factors.

We have found answers on the internet ranging from 1 ml = 1 pack to 3 ml = 1 pack (and some really wild numbers).

Using the average (for the average user) then, 1 pack = 2 ml of e-liquid :

    • a 5ml bottle would = 2.5 packs
    • a 15 ml bottle would = 7.5 packs
    • a 30 ml bottle would = 15 packs
    • a 50 ml bottle would = 25 packs

This is a really cool breakdown. Doing the math alone on that is my constant encouragement to stay off of the cigarettes and keep on with the vape life. I can definitely see how this would be something that is hard to really gauge out because of the different burn times of each cigarette, brands, lengths, etc. Great info!

I have read that nicotine absorption from vaping compares almost the same to smoking nicotine. So you can just find out what the absorption rate is for smoking cigarettes and assume that it's the same with vaping. The difference would be on the device used and the rate at which you inhale the vapour. If you are using an atomiser that is advanced, 3 mg/ml might give you the same absorption rate of 6 mg/ml when you're using a starter kit.

Also on average a smoker consumes a pack a day. An average vaper might consume 3.5 to 4 ml a day. Again, it's difficult to calculate the exact cigarettes that that equals. But you can get a pretty much good assessment from how many puffs can you get to and feel satisfied from vaping.

I'd guess that what you smoke there are about the dose of nicotine from 12-16 cigarettes, somewhere in between that. Now who can say what is too much? For some smokers 2-3 packs a day is too much, so we can't really compare or answer you until we get a point of reference.

I think the math is sound. I usually vape 10 ml in 3 days and I used to smoke about 2 packs every day. So that would come down to about 1,5 - 2 packs/day with me vaping 10 ml in 3 days.

Thanks for the breakdown! I will remember that as I usually smoke a 5ml bottle a day which may seem like a lot haha!

That's a great breakdown. I've been to lazy to crunch the numbers myself. I had the general rule of thumb at .5 ml bottle to be around 2 packs of cigarettes.

Well, never really counted. Two years ago I used to smoke like one pack per day. Looking back I think it's crazy. Now, maybe, it's like 5-7. Not that much.

I usually spend around $10 week vaping. So comparing that to a pack of cigarrettes, vaping is very cheap.

I use about 3 ml of juice in a day, and feel that that is close to the effects I had from smoking I was getting earlier, which was around 1 pack a day. I have searched extensively for a formula that equates juice to cigarettes, but I've learnt that it's very difficult and varies from person to person. Better off with your own experiments.
