Do you believe vaping should be banned in public?

Public vaping is frowned upon by a lot of people and supported by a lot of people. I personally vape publicly, but far more discreetly than I would at home, just purely out of respect for the people around me who don't appreciate it.

Personally I think it should be more restricted in public, but far less restricted than smoking. Whilst there are health concerns about vaping there are far less health concerns in comparison to regular cigarettes. The problem with vaping right now is that we don't fully understand everything there is to know about its potential health issues, so I can understand why the government would rather be apprehensive.

What's your personal stance on public vaping? Do you think it should be outlawed in public as badly as smoking?

 

I understand your point. The thing is, as vapers, we're not even sure what the rules are. We're at a constant "Should I or Should I Not?" state since there are no set regulations or rules regarding vaping. And it's all confusing for us because we don't know when we'll be scolded or reprimanded whenever we vape or wherever we vape.

As far as vaping in public, for me, I don't usually vape where children are. I find a place where it's away from the crowd. I don't really think vaping should be completely banned in public. But maybe there should be some regulations that will enable us to find our place when it comes to vaping.

 

I agree 100% with this. I think there is definitely controversy about it in public simply because many people don't understand that it is water vapor instead of smoke.

I believe when there are signs that say no smoking then you shouldn't smoke there. Obviously people are still going to be uncomfortable seeing the smoke come out: it's a natural reaction to the years of "second hand smoke" scare.

 

I think the communities should give vapers a space to vape, just like smoking. I understand your point that vaping should be less restricted than smoking, but a lot of people don't know the difference between vaping and smoking. They lack awareness for them to understand. I would go with respecting them first.

 

I certainly think that it's obnoxious, although I'm not sure far how far I'd go in banning it, probably on par with cigarette smoking, because you are still exposing people to nicotine vapors, aerosol vapours and a smell which many find quite repungent. I just don't do it, because it gives vapers a bad image.

 

I agree I think if you follow the same procedure as if you were a smoker it will be ok. Even though it's not the same thing, why get into hassles when all you have to do is go to a smoking section and vape freely.

 

I don't think there is anything wrong with vaping in public as long as you are outdoors. I'm a strong believer that you shouldn't smoke around other people, outdoors or not, but don't feel the same about vaping.

 

I am really torn when it comes to vaping in public. I believe that vaping should be just as acceptable as cigarettes are. If you cannot smoke a cigarette in the area, then you should not be aloud to vape in the area. I can completely understand why someone would not want the vapor around them. I don't blame them at all. Everyone has their preferences and it's not fair of me to vape around people that are uncomfortable with it. I'm not really hung up on the idea of not being able to vape in public, honestly.

 

I feel like it should contribute to the no smoking. If you are in a area that does not disturb the public then vaping should be fine. Vaping in a smoking area would be a nice example. I wouldn't vape inside a store or any establishment like that though.

 

Public as in street etc. shouldn't be banned.

Of course vaping in small spaces, cafes, or elevator, public transport is a little be rude. In a way it is still nicotine and even if it's still better than smoking please be polite and pay attention to your surroundings. I mean around children, elderly etc.

 

I agree, if you treat it as if it was a cigarette nobody is going to bother you. As soon as you try to go against this you might get the wrong sort of attention.

 

I don't think it should be banned in public but maybe done in designated smoking areas or try not to do it around groups of people that don't smoke or vape. I think that would just be common courtesy. I get that it's different than actual smoking but still I think it does bother people and should be treated somewhat like actual smoking. It's hard though really to determine what the rules for it should be. On one had you're doing something that is better than smoking but still you're doing something that still is like smoking. That's a touch question to answer.

 

I personally think that we ought to see vaping and smoking as the same thing. After years of smoking and now vaping, I still consider vaping as smoking. Regardless the evidence, and regardless the ignorance, I think we should just follow the sign. If there's a sign that says "No Smoking", simply don't. It's really that simple.

 

This is exactly what I was thinking. Vaping can be just as bothersome to the public as cigarettes. I could see why someone would want there to be a designated smoking area. I think that the areas should apply to vaping as well. The only issue this might lead to is that vapers might not want to be around the cigarette smoke. It's really hard to determine how to work everything out. It'd be silly to make separate areas for every single habit.

 

I think a lot of things should be banned in public before vaping. Being a jerk, for example. Being annoying. Bothering people. Having stupid opinions. If we're going to ban vaping, I'm riding this rabbit hole down to the damn bottom. There are so many things that are bad for society that banning vaping is just being a little punk.

 

I think vaping should only be banned in public if you vape something with nicotine in it. And even then, I`m not really sure it would be the best way to go. Banning non nic vapers in public is just stupid in my opinion.

 

I think vaping should be banned publicly out of respect to the public. Also if the product has nicotine in it and you're around others, you can be responsible for second hand smoke, almost like your smoking a cigarette.

 

I don't think it should be banned anywhere. But we should threat it as smoking, so if you're at a place which you can't smoke, it's obvious you aren't going to vape either.
