Just got a protank. Really found it too airy and the flavor too muted. quick Google to fix the airy draw pointed me at using an evod head. Just happened to have one due for a rewick and coil. Figured I would give this Nextel XC-116 ceramic (SnG Vapor sells high temp treated wick). Just started a tank of Gorilla Juice. So far everything is much improved. I'll report how it goes.

    info copied from description......

XC-116 Ceramic Wick is the ultimate RBA wicking material! Ceramic is temperature stable to 1200 degrees, so it will not burn or give off a burnt flavor, even at super-high wattages. It is able to be torched clean, and so will last much longer than a traditional silica or cotton wick. It is non-conductive, and so does not suffer from the hotspot issues that SS mesh does.

This wick is pre-treated by SnG Vapor with heat. We recommend a small dry-burn after wrapping to remove any latent skin oils present from processing, but we have heated this wick to 1600 deg to remove contaminants.

ok,...so its stable to 1200 degrees but they have heated it to 1600 degrees to remove contaminants? lol. and 7 bucks a foot plus shipping? Wow.

eyeball says 3mm. It's the exact stuff in the link. doesn't say diameter. PS I just used that wick thru coil no flavor wicks. and no leaks/gurgles so far.

just seems like overkill.....wouldn't an autoclave suffice for killing bacteria?

They use high heat to burn off the sizing and other chemicals

Getting a bubbling. Not a gurgle but more like the pop and sputter on a genesis. If you drawn slower it's not as noticeable. Also chain vaping = much warmer vape. I suspect the cermaic is retaining heat.

I haven't tried it in a genny yet. Too happy with mesh on them. this appears to be solid.

I think the recommendation for heat treating was from an engineer at 3M. A propane torch is over 3000 degrees. People were using those to heat treat.

I had some gurgles after it sat over night. A couple of pulls and it cleared up.

So is there any fix for the airness besides the Evod head? I have 10 Protank heads coming from the coop....and 0 Evod heads....so I'd like to find a way to use them, if possible.

I haven't had any gurgling but lots of sizzling/crackling, even at very low voltage. Does that mean anything?

Initially, the tank made me cough my brains out but I found out that was the juice I was using. I put in new juice, but it seems pretty muted. I'll play with it some more, though. Can't say I like it better than my T3s yet but I'm willing to give it more time.

The air grooves on the protank heads is cut deeper then the Evod heads,an quick easy fix is too drip wax onto the bottom and then scrape off till you get what you like

alternatively you can drip the wax onto one or two of the air holes at the top of the 510 threading of the protank

Maybe maybe its me but pro-tank is total failure for me cant get through a tank without it ruining juice burnt through 4 heads, The good news is i have moded 1 over to mesh and once i get the tight draw worked out i think i will enjoy it.

I had to turn the voltage waaayyy down on my Vamo because the tank was crackling like crazy. No burnt juice tho....nor leaks, which is a plus.
