I think it's only a matter of time before restaurants start banning vaping on their establishments. Time will come that us, vapers, will have to vape outside the restaurant or in smoking areas as well. I do understand though if they start implementing such rules since not all people would want to be in the same room as someone who vapes. Like you said, some might have conditions that might endanger their health if someone vapes in their vicinity. Or maybe some people just wouldn't want the vapour to be around them. And if that happens, I would have to respect their stand on the issue.

No, I don't vape in restaurants. Most people have trouble understanding the difference of smoking and vaping here. In fact, I think they think vaping is some kind of drug addiction. Therefore, I do not vape inside malls, restaurants. There is no thing such as passive vaping, but it may cause displeasure to the other customers.

Thank you for sharing the story about your uncle, toradada.

As unpleasant as that made me feel, I have come across a few of these "insistent" ones like your uncle myself. The huge tendency to obnoxiously educate people while defending yourself is truly counter productive. It's attitude like this that we must learn to avoid and not to follow because nobody likes to feel stupid or be called stupid, especially in public, and for any reasons for that matter.

Hope your uncle will calm down eventually as this is only going to put a bad name to vaping.

That's kind of terrible behavior, I agree. It's not okay yelling and shouting at people If they are not doin' anything wrong. Btw, were there any signs?

I do not, but this is all about looking at the situation and deciding what is right.

I was in a crowded bus the other day and an older man was vaping a few seats from me. There were several people crammed around him, uncomfortably close but he was still vaping, almost puffing into another men's mouth.

It was embarrassing to even look at.

The key to smoking anywhere publicly is subtlety. Because my ecig doesn't give off huge clouds, I can easily subtly smoke it, inhale it for longer, and there'll be no visible vapor. On top of that, I try to blow it down as opposed to upwards, and genuinely nobody notices.

I actually disagree with smoking an ecig in public, but if you do it right, and there's not many people around at all, then there's no harm in doing it. If people can clearly see you doing it, then that's where you should really reconsider your actions, I think.

Yep, those restaurants that allow it I do it, but I was told to stop once because someone was complaining. I think most people still don't see the difference and they think it's cigarettes.

That's kind of true. A sad truth. Btw, were you using any flavored stuff?

I always try to respect other customers so no, never. Only in designated smoking areas, they are there for a reason.

This is a very valid point, it's obvious that if I was going to have a smoke I wouldn't wait for anyone. I new what i would have to do. Vaping is different, so I have to see what the right protocol would be. Nicotine does control you and you are 100% right the less you have to take in the stronger your will, will be.

Yep, but at the same time it's not some disturbing like cigarettes. I don't want to cause a fuss though, so I do it in the proper areas either even if I don't like cigarettes.

I don't vape in restaurants or inside the office. I just don't feel comfortable doing it. I will feel that the people would get mad at me.

I do agree that vaping is definitely easier to do subtly unlike smoking. Although for me, it's a lot easier to just avoid vaping in too crowded places. It's not really my behaviour or attitude to stand up to my actions when I know they're not entirely right. And vaping isn't exactly illegal or legal, at least right now. And that's why it's hard to justify our vaping in public places simply because there are no rules or guidelines for it or against it. It's difficult to follow the rules when you don't know which rules to follow. So we really need to use our own logic and minds when or where we should vape.

No, I wouldn't ever feel comfortable vaping inside, around people who hadn't consented to me doing so. We still don't know for sure how it affects ourselves, let alone the people around us. Plus, when you're eating it's uncomfortable to have foreign scents around you.

I find that vaping in restaurants is just as rude as smoking a cigarette in a restaurant. Just because the vapor is not going to affect the people around us, does not mean that we have the right to blow it in other people's faces. I think it's best to leave your vaping for a more private setting or outside. I think it's a bit rude to use a vaporizer in a restaurant while people are eating and trying to enjoy their meal. It's much better to be considerate of the people around you.

Nope! I would never vape in a area that is populated with people very close together like a restaurant! I actually wouldn't have the guts to vape in any establishment indoors to be honest. If it was outside then I would be safe to do so.

There was a "no-smoking" sign, but my uncle kept insisting that "smoking" is different from "vaping" -_-

I think it all depends on the situation and your feelings.

I mean in a bigger, open-space restaurant it shouldn't be a problem, and if you also ask the waiters it's the best. Just to try to be polite whatever situation you are in, and you couldn't go wrong.

I try to avoid it, but I have seen SO MANY PEOPLE do it. I personally like to avoid it because it tends to make others uncomfortable, and I don't like that. Even if I really want to I'll usually excuse myself to vape for a bit.

I avoid vaping in any restaurant or public buildings as other people may be uncomfortable with it, it's a place to eat not a place to vape.
