    A small prize for anyone who can send me a link that shows details of;

Resistance wire using a fixed voltage

I'm after graphs showing the temperature (of the wire) over time of applied voltage.
    Any related research also appreciated.

I'm specifically interested in the heat up period.

Ok, read that Sandvik pdf. Page 7 isn't what I'm after, it shows resistivity v temp, I'm after temp v time.
Notwithstanding that, I got a few ideas from the later pages that have gone into the grey sponge.

What prize would you like FM?

I think he's given up trying to give me away or trade me.
The year I turned 40, he tried to trade me for home brew and a goat to our newly arrived Russian next door neighbour.
He did blush up b.comtifully when he realised what was being discussed.

I don't even like beer, a goat however...ahh, a goat. The things a bloke could do with a good goat, there milk and cheese, wool for clothing, goat poo for the vegies. Meat when it dies, companionship and so much more. Damn, I should have offered some rubies and gems or whatnot.

temp over time is not going to be linear, there will be a fairly linear rise then an almost plat.com as the liquid starts evaporating.
the linear rise will be proportional to thermal mass, input power and thermal conductivity to cooler parts, the second part will vary on wicking, juice and a bunch of other factors.

this is based on a doing a swag of thermal calculations for heatsinking over the years, each part is rated in C/W and is subsequently added to the next section to calculate die temperatures based on watts dissipated.

so wire temp is based on wick/wire C/W (non linear)
    wick/air (non linear)
    wick/body (linear per degree)

think if a kettles non linearitys, temp increases almost linear to boiling. then no more as evaporation removes heat.

    Stone, yes, got that thanks.
Shitty number of variables to deal with to regulate the temp when it reaches desired plat.com.

Thinking still, despite the horror of reading subject terms like fairly linear, and almost plat.com.
Oh off topic, when can I buy an ECD? I have this goat here I'll swap.

Are you looking for a chart like this, that has to do with the omhs? Not sure if this helps.

Being a student of physics, i find it quite fascinating. They are definitely worth a read from everyone interested. Thanks for the graphs everyone. I will research a bit more on this as it has got my attention.
