No, never. As I mentioned in another thread I have a very negative opinion about this sort of thing. If you wouldn't smoke there, you shouldn't vape there, so restaurants are certainly a no-go. I don't even really vape in the street, although sometimes I do at the park.

I never used to smoke cigarettes in restaurants before, so I don't see the point to start just because I've changed to smoking a vape. While we may think that we're not doing any harm to others, it's the shocking look you get from strangers who think you're destroying them that I much prefer to avoid. To me, smoking is smoking. When I see a "No Smoking" sign, I simply don't smoke.

That right there is the reason why I will not vape in a restaurant. Plus, taste is tied in with smell. Can you imagine how weird everyone's food would taste to them if they had to sit and eat in a room that smelled like tobacco-cinnamon-grape-watermelon-bubblegum-banana nut spice?

    I wouldn't enjoy it, so I'm assuming that non-vapers wouldn't enjoy it.

I always thought it was gross when people smoked while eating. My mom use to do that. I don't vape in restaurants. I just feel it's common courtesy to others.

Good to see (at least later in the thread) that there's a consensus that it's common courtesy to not vape in public places.

I think whether or not it's harmful is irrelevant. Between the smells that can make people nauseous, and just the act shining a bad light on the entire industry... I think it's important to show some self-control when in public, especially when in enclosed areas, especially around people eating.

Bahahaha, I never even THOUGHT of the consequences of people massively smoking different flavors together, I've always just considered it from the perspective that it is now. It probably can only persist so long as it stays the way it is, with a couple of weird people pulling out their rig every now and again cuz they're still hard fiends for the nicotine.

I don't vape in restaurants. I will vape if I am at a bar and I always ask if it is permitted (most of the time there is no issue with it). It's very tricky where I am at. Chicago is VERY strict when it comes to vaping (among the long list of strict laws for other things). Depending on the suburb (which you really have to make a mental note of), some have laws against it and other do not. There has been talk about certain parts of Chicago and surrounding areas banning vaping in all public buildings including the parking lot/property of the public buildings.

Like most of the people here I don't vape in restaurants. I just don't like to do it while eating and the whole thing doesn't seem right to me. You don't smoke here, so obviously shouldn't vape. I guess if we're talking about some place like a bar it's the other way round.

May I ask, why do you feel that way? It has been proven that there is no second hand smoke/vape produced when vapor/steam is exhaled.

have you ever smelled the vapor from five different people at once? Try and imagine yourself spending $50 on a plate of food and being forced to smell vapors instead of the food you're eating: it affects the experience. There's no real reason that the restaurant has to allow anyone to vape, especially if it's going to have a negative effect on their business.

There might not be a legal ban on vaping just yet, however some establishments are now taking it upon themselves to add it into their rules that there is no vaping while you are in there - and rightly so in my opinion. There are many people who have respiratory conditions who could be deeply affected by other people vaping in an enclosed space, and as a result of this we should try to do it away from other people rather than right in front of them. It is a matter of respect that should really be dealt with, and it is certainly something to think about.

I have never vaped in a restaurant, and although legally I can, I still wouldn't. I wouldn't want someone blowing smoke in my face or let alone smell the juice that they love while I'm trying to eat. I want to be able to smell and enjoy my food, not try and eat
with the smell of strawberry or whatever you have in your vape. I think although it's not illegal, it's still common courtesy.

I have only started vaping so I don't really know what the etiquette is. I guess it would depend on if anyone else was doing it. Maybe later on when I feel more comfortable with it I will make my own decision but for now I am not the one that is going to start.

    1. First off, you gotta make your own decisions all the time. Otherwise, you're not living your life.
    2. Nevermind, I got the meaning. The lesser you smoke/vape, the stronger your will.

My uncle always vape -wherever it is and whenever it may be. And one time, when we were in a restaurant, he was approached by a waiter asking him to stop... He got mad and shouted at the waiter. The manager even had to come to explain that it's their policy and that it may bother other customers -and he still didn't want to stop them, arguing with "Why? Don't you people know that this is not smoke? What, are you stupid?". Good thing he finally stopped when my mom and my aunt reprimanded him.

Please don't follow his example. :(

If it's prohibited somewhere, then don't use it (rather than arguing why like my uncle did). And tbh, I don't think everyone (if not anyone) would like vapor -whether those with no smell or those with (food or not) flavored smell- all around while eating. It's disrespectful to the food and other people.
