Do you vape in restaurants?

This really a tricky question - as there's nothing legally preventing you to do so. But would you feel comfortable vaping next to other people eating and next to everyone's food? And what do you think most business owners would do if you vaped inside their restaurant? I want your opinions

I feel like most people would still feel uncomfortable by it and give out dirty looks. Someone might go up to management and report it and then we'd have a scene on our hands. I think with a misinformed public, management would probably side with the other customer. In that situation there's not really much you can do being on private property and all. However I could see a scenario in which the management is informed and let's you do it with their blessing. In which case, i'd have no problem openly vaping. As long as one is courteous and respectful about it, there shouldn't be a problem.

Not really, no, I don't vape in restaurants. In bars and clubs, yes, since no one gives me the dead-eye or the weird look in there. But in restaurants, I don't think people would approve of it much. I have seen some people vape in restaurants and other public places like the mall, and mostly, other people look at them intently. I don't think I can stand all that attention on me, lol. So I'd rather vape in areas where it's allowed or in parking lots or clubs, since it's quite acceptable to vape or even smoke in such places. However, I'd still be careful if there are any passers by especially children as I don't think the parents would approve of them inhaling the vape smoke.

I personally do not, but I have seen others pull them out and not even bat an eye about it. I remember while back there was an incident where a worker at a restaurant tried to kick someone out for smoking and then they had to get the manager and all of that. I guess that is what you are going to get with a relatively new product, though, and like all other things it just takes time for most people to get used to.

Personally I don't like to vape in restaurants as sometimes there are little kids around, or it just may be a little rude as people arent really seeing people vape in public places and it might make them feel uncomfortable. So I just like to stick to doing it outside of a restaurant if I am really itching to vape.

It depends on the situation. sometimes there are little kids around. Usually I don't but I have done it a couple of times in a restaurant I knew was accepting of it.

I don't really much, and if I do I'm kind of stealthy about it. When I smoked cigarettes I never liked it to be around my food either. I do enjoy to vape while sitting at the bar either in a restaurant or a bar-only kind of place but I try to judge the environment before vaping.

I suppose it depends on where you are. Some restaurants around me were dedicated vaping lounges until the new laws got passed here in WA. So in those situations I definitely was vaping along with everyone else.

Other than that I try to keep my vaping to the same places I used to smoke. When we were trying to fight the local laws that were coming out, there was a lot of examples of "young kids" blowing plumes of vape at families in the middle of the mall. Even though it seems like giving in, at this point I would rather just try to keep my head down and not annoy people with it to prevent anymore drastic changes being made.

No, not personally. I can understand why people do, sure, but I would prefer a world where restaurants are for eating and you don't have to pick and choose what types of habits the customers are going to be habiting around with when you're sitting down for a meal. Sure, I might like to puff while we wait for our food, but I'd rather not be bothered by the fact that other people are bothered and bother me about how I'm bothering them. I just wait.

It depends on which restaurants. For instance, there are restauarants that have no strict vaping policy but on the other hand, there are restaurants that have sections for vapers, smokers et al.

I don't really care wether the restaurant has a policy against it or not. I think it's just common sense not to do it. I wouldn't want to see a restaurant full of vape. It's a question of education.

Yes, well my boyfriend does. I feel uncomfortable doing it in public, there is just so much "smoke" that generally attracts attention, and I do not like that. I do not bother my boyfriend about it as long as he is respecting the people around him, like smoking outside and not creating huge "clouds". One time he pulled it out near a table with children, and he realized many people do not know what vaping is so it seems disrespectful, so he became more discreet.

At my university vaping is considered the same as smoking...
This means we HAVE to go outside to one of those approved smoking area's.
No smoking in my dorm or any of the on-campus pubs or restaurants EVEN if it's outside on the patio.
I have tried to talk to the administration about this and how silly it is, but they just won't listen!
There is a local bar nearby that we got for beer wings and pool that lets us use them inside, but it's like an hour bus ride and it's in a bad part of town..
Sigh I just don't get the anti e-cigarette mentality.

I think I've said a few times on here on different threads, if people only vaped where they used to smoke, then there wouldn't be any issue at all.

That means no vaping inside of any public building, for a start or on public transport. Vaping or smoking, people don't want to be sat next to a person doing either in an enclosed space, so we have to respect their wishes.

I personally don't do it as I think it does not look appropriate. A lot of persons would feel offended seeing you do it, mostly because they might not even know what it is. The restaurant owner would most likely feel the same, so I think it should be treated similarly to normal cigarettes by the user.

This, a thousand times this. I treat vaping the same I way I treat smoking. I don't vape around children or elderly people. I don't vape in enclosed spaces such as malls, offices or restaurants. I look around and try to see if I'm bothering anyone by my vaping. I don't expose other people to my vaping because chances are, they don't want to be exposed in it anyway.

I do vape in bars since smoking is allowed there anyway. The general rule is, abide by the laws and regulations. If smoking is allowed in that place, then vaping is also allowed.

Like some of the other people in this thread, I believe it's in pretty bad taste to vape in restaurants. I do it all the time in bars and clubs and nobody cares, but restaurants are a completely different setting, people go there with their families and stuff so I think it should really be off limits.

Even if it is legal, I personally would not vape in a restaurant. It would make me uncomfortable thinking that other people around me could get angry or annoyed at me. It would be a different story if everyone in that restaurant was vaping, then I wouldn't be the only one. But I still prefer to vape outside or away from other people.

I think @Morgan Wood brings up a good point aswell, and just because it might be legal to smoke/vape in a certain area, doesn't mean that you should.

It might be legal, but if your not comfortable vaping there, then simply don't do it and go and find somewhere that you are comfortable.

I also don't like vaping with meals on second thought, too. It changes up the flavor of the food too much, like, I dunno, I don't wanna mix raspberry peach with my veggie burger, that would make it a fruit burger...and they don't make those for a reason. I think.
