See my boyfriend hates the smell of smokers so he was not exactly chuffed when I smoked so.. I switched to vaping because I do not have to worry about smelling plus I feel much healthier vaping

I am pleasantly surprised by the onslaught of support here on the forums. People are even willing to send things to members they have never met.

You all are angels, really. Keep it up!

And remember to pay it forward, folks!

Well I can say that I have been there before, and on both sides. I have been the one who was found out about and the one who did the finding out, and it is tough both times it happens. I think that it is expected, though, and having an open and honest discussion about the matter is really the best thing that you can do. It is certainly easier said than done, but keeping that in mind would help.

Oh, that's not good news. I hope you guys talk this out. Maybe she's just had a relapse and needs some support from you. I've been the same way with my husband, he can't seem to quit off the cigarette completely. I'm just glad that I got him to try vaping at least a few times. Maybe in the future, when he's ready, he'll switch to e-cigs by himself. How I wish!

Well it's tougher than we all think it is. She will be pissed at herself to I'm sure.

Let her enjoy it. Don't be too harsh on her. It can be difficult for some of us. Just be there for her and encourage her when she decides to.

Addictions die hard! Gotta treat the root cause, which can usually be found in that moment you first decided to try whatever you got addicted to...what were you looking for and why, why did you think you needed it, etc. Find the root cause, kill the weed. Unless it's weed... don't kill it plz.

Haha! Seriously though, you make a great point. Usually, we don't conquer the addiction or we relapse because we have a deeper issue we haven't resolved. I hope they try therapy or counselling as this can certainly help them figure out this whole problem. Additionally, I think relapsing is not necessarily the end of the road. You didn't fail just because you relapsed and you can continue on recovering even after a relapse. The more than people know that, the better that they can go through a relapse.

I wouldn't be to upset about a small relapse. I know when I first tried vaping I wasn't completely sold on it. I had to get to a point where I had a vape that did all the things I wanted to and still gave me that "satisfaction". I was smoking and vaping for a year until I finally got a better vape.

Maybe there is something missing and she needs to make a few adjustments like I did? I wouldn't be pissed, just find out what the problem is.

Absolutely. I have a mean caffeine addiction right now, and I've kicked it several times in my life. The funny thing is that I know exactly what's missing - my natural vigor, my natural animal health, my deep-seated desire to have the gas to push through whatever I need to push through. The caffeine is just a byproduct of my old habits and an unwillingness to pay the steep price that is withdrawal, which is 2-3 weeks of deep, drug-induced emotional spikes, massive naps, fleeting stress sessions, inability to feel satisfied from food/drink and having to put my sleep schedule back together. Can't ween off because of tolerance, can't keep doing it because I don't believe in it. Can't go cold turkey because I have work to do. Just gotta fight it sometimes.

It you have patience, then you know it takes time. You just have to find a mutual ground to sort it out.

The fact that you have kicked the addiction several times already means that you can do it again. I know you can do it. We've all been there, that dependence on the substance, it's something that we think we cannot let go of. But the first step would always be acceptance that you have a problem. And I think you're in that step already. Now it's up to you to continue on quitting caffeine.

I think caffeine in moderation is fine. I can drink one to two cups of coffee a day. Just how addicted are to caffeine, if I may ask?

The thing is that my DoC is energy drinks, where are a different beast than coffee. Coffee does not work well with me because I have been drinking them for over a decade, they come packed with synthetic vitamins, the sugars are all shown to be addictive, etc. It isn't so much the actual process of quitting as that I am at a point in my life where I can't afford a week or two of withdrawal symptoms because I usually end up needing to nap excessively and get these weird emotional spikes where my heart rate and body temp goes up outta nowhere, super annoying

And here I was thinking I was the only one who felt the odd urge to nap after 2+ cups of coffee...

Sharing stories/information with others is really helpful in kicking any habit, it seems.
