    Hi people

I thought it was time to build another box to replace the one I lost to .coml in Bunnings a while back.

This time I decided that instead of the touch switch as fitted on the last couple, I would fit a real firing button. Reason for this is that the touch switch worked very well, but has limitations. If for some reason you perspire (wife doesn’t like the word sweat) and you carry the unit in you pocket, there is every chance it will fire especially if the contacts are towards the skin. It needs to be dropped in a pouch before putting in the pocket.

The batteries are 16340 1000mah x 2 connected in parallel. Overall nothing special but I don’t need anything special. I am one of the lucky few who are happy on the lower volts. With low resistance stuff, I am quite happy. Anyway I would be struggling to get a variable voltage set up in these boxes. What would work is to hard wire a Kick, but I don’t have one.

Its been running pretty hard for a day and a half and performance is just starting to tail off. The charging is via a 510 connector you can see inside the box.

Time for another Laphroaig and some.comthentic South African Biltong. Wife is out annoying somebody else, so I am in good shape.

If you like Biltong you would love this stuff. Produced by a displaced South African butcher.

Looks like a nice site, just browsing the different boxes they have now.

box mod looks good as well, like the fact you kept the charging point inside the box rather than mount it so it is accessible externally, keeps the outside looking nice and clean.

Why couldn't you make it charge from the external 510 connector by unscrewing the carto tank & plugging in the charger there?

Oh & that is a nice looking box.

The simple way its wired, and without the eGo electronics. Its set up so the 510 connection is wired directly to the battery, with a switch connected in the positive side. The switch is normally open until pressed, when the circuit is then made. To charge from that connection. you would need to keep the firing button pressed. Its not that difficult to get around the limitation, but it would take an extra switch. For me it was just as easy to fit the extra fly lead inside the box.

little concealed (recessed) toggle switch paralleling the fire button would do the job and save the internal plug, but I saw in the website its a magnetic case anyway, being a snuff xase its designed to open, so I guess its no hassle anyway.

The other consideration is that at the moment the battery connection is fitted flush with the outside of the case. To be able to charge with an eGo it would need to stand proud and look out of place. A 510 to ego adapter could be used, but I like it better this way. Anyway I didn't have a switch but did have a battery connection!!!!

    Thanks for that Dawzzy

Yes I would use those for sure. Had some good results with Ipod and camera battery's. Shame they don't give size details. Its not the battery's that are the main problem, its finding suitable boxes. Fair few plastic ones, but getting wooden ones is difficult. I could try making them but my woodworking skills are limited to burning the stuff on the BBQ!!!!

Thanks for that. They will not fit in my boxes, but I will bookmark the page. Had a look around there, and he has a fair few battery s. Got to wonder about the prices though??? You say you are using one so I guess they do work as advertised.
