to all minxy owners

Quick question for those who have Minxy's. is it better to use flat top batteries in this mod? I ask because my Minxy developed a crack and I wondered if the "nipples" batteries are too long for it, putting pressure on the wood.

 

Wish I owned one. Have you thought of asking mamu about it?

 

they are wonderful, and yes. if no one in the forums knows I'll ask mamu. I just feel like I've bugged her enough already

 

I asked mamu about it and she said.........Minxy's batt contacts are sized for the AW IMR 16340 batts. You can use the AW ICR 16340 batts, but they are a bit longer than the AW IMR 16340 batts. I use the AW IMR 16340 batts in both my Minxys and haven't had any problem with the wood cracking from the batts being too long.

Ok, thanks for asking for me Granny. I have IMR's in them now. I found some flat tops that I thought might be shorter. I see IMR's with and without the nipple top. I'm a bit confused on the whole battery thing. But I think it's not my fault, since researching it, I've found that batteries made by the same label with the same specs can be different lengths.

 

The flat tops should be shorter, the button top is added on top of the flat top (it's still there under it). A protected battery adds both the button top (usually) and an extra PCB (about ~2mm) on the bottom making it the longest of the three.

mamu on vf made a few of them and sold them on vf last year??? (i think). she is no longer making them. those that bought rave about them. mamu makes some great mods, maximum in quality, but they are limited in quantity.

 

AW IMR batts are the ones mamu recommends for the Minxy. Do not use ICR's that are protected.
