    Hi people

In my quest to be self sufficient and not rely on available mods and things, I keep looking around for stuff I can use and it must be cheap!!!

The battery in this one is for a mobile phone. Bought at Jaycar for ten bucks on sale. 1400mah. Same touch switch set up as the last one. I did try a VV set up, but cant get the current draw, but all is not lost!! Its been vaping for a day and a half and still measuring at 3.3v. The reality is its better than an ego in performance, and seems to have long legs as regard to longevity. Very happy with this. Must look at a home made atty!!!!

Still thinking about the Zippo? Found some Tenergy batterys at the local model shop, but bloody expensive. Need to wait till they have a sale. I have been trying to buy a couple of Zippos, but again the real thing is a silly price. We are not allowed to import lighters into.coms. Shame as there are a lot of cheap knock offs in China!!!

Any tobacco shop normally has knock-off zippo's. Then again, the plain jane REAL Zippo's are about $25 around here.

You are lucky to have tobacco shops. Ther are as rare as hens teeth in WA. The last one we had in Perth ended up selling fountain pens and pen knives. $25 bucks is way to much for me to mess around with. My failure rate is only been beaten by the local stock market and my pension fund!!!!

Funny about that, yesterday I bought the wife a new mobile phone (for my birthday  ) and when I was putting it together I remembered your last mod and thought to myself, Rob would like this.

    Inventive as usual mate :)

First thing to check is the size. No the battery!!! The newer ones only need a lower mah, so the redundant ones are better as they tend to offer more ziggies.

:) The phone it replaces (should be mine, but I dislike mobiles) 1320mAh, 38x60x4 so I should, err, re-purpose that. She might twig if I don't answer though

Pretty much anything over 1000mah is good to go. Needs to compete with the eGo, otherwise no point. Not much good for VV as I have recently discovered.

we need some one to make a mini star dust or alike to suit these mini
pocket mods like only about 25-30 mm high and about as wide with
mini drip tips would be sick

Was that just the chip couldn't handle the power? How about 2x batteries stacked, then PWM down to the required voltage? If you could get a chip with the brains and use it to control the mosFET it should be good? (I'm not an electronics expert)

No the Mosfet was fine, but the battery wouldn't handle the current draw. Best it will do is two amp. Not over keen on stacking the battery's as I don't know wtf I am doing. Best I will do is parallel them. Cant do any harm that way. The other issue is the space in to little boxes. I am lucky, I can get all I need from 3.7 unregulated, as long as I keep with the low res attachments.

    Wow, that's cool.

Thanks for that. Got to be the most capacity for a flat battery I have seen. Wonder what the physical size is?? Google might tell me.

Nice Idea for the housing. Cuts down on the size restrictions having the Attie outside the box. Nice!!!!

Ahh, ok but that's less than 2C.

Stacking isn't the problem, draining them too low is (which can happen if the batteries' capacity aren't matched), but the biggest risk is recharging them when they have been drained too low. Even with the normal regulated batteries, I never drain them completely. Just partial, then recharge; I have spares.
