Maybe a cure for the gurgling Vision Stone Tank??

    Hi people

I am running five Stone tanks and they have never missed a beat.

I fired one up yesterday and the first suck gave me a mouth full of juice. Not good as its not happened before.

Anyway, removed it from the battery and blew it out, cleaned the threads and tried again. It seemed to clear it but the draw was very tight and all but impossible to suck. Again, not good.

I changed tanks, and decided to perform an.comtopsy on the offending tank. Stripped it down, rinsed it out and had a look as well as my tired old eyes would allow.

Not a lot to see. Did a dry burn and generally cleaned up the coil and tried again with a new lot of juice. Same thing, flooding and very tight suck.

Now the only thing different to the good tanks and this bad one, is that I filled it with pretty much 100% PG. I mixed up a brew and screwed up, but thats for another day!!

These things wick pretty fast with PG.

Looking a little further, I could see that the coil and wick were actually touching the central air tube.

What I think was happening is that the wick was becoming saturated and as it was in contact with the tube, the exess juice was running down the tube, .comsing the gurgle and mouthfuls.

The fix for me was to gently with tweezers and a pin, lift the coil clear of the tube, and to cut off one side of the wick, basically to slow down the wicking with the high PG.

Nailed it all back together and never looked back. Working like a charm. No gurgle or flooding and heaps of vapor and hit.

I am not advocating this as a cure for all the issues, but good for me. If you have this problem with a tight draw, I would try lifting the coil first to see if it makes any difference.. If still flooding, amputate one of its legs to stop the fast wicking.

All my other tanks are good, this is the only problem one, which has been fixed.

Yup.. whenever I find my tank (not teh same tank) overly gurgling or outright flooding, it's always the cartomiser that's been at .comlt. I change it out and it's back to normal.. not all carto's are made equal :)

I get the odd gurgle from the one vision stone II I've tried, sometimes when it runs a bit hot, it gets wick happy. My solution was to vape more haha no really what I did was remove the tank and blow the airway clear onto a napkin then it would be fine usually. Usually only get it after the thing has been sitting for a while.

I bought one of these last week and it arrived Thursday. Initially, it was great but it wasn't long before I had the same problems AND it leaked (the outside of the tube was always sticky). I was using a 50/50 PG/VG mix, so I kept increasing the VG content but it still gurgled (and leaked), and when it wasn't gurgling it burnt

Cleaned and dry burned, and the leaking stopped but the gurgling continued. I would only get 3 good vapes before the gurgling started, blow out into a tissue, 3 more ...

I next grabbed hold of the coil and lifted it as far as I dared to but still no joy. I next trimmed one side of the wick, shorter and shorter but it still gurgled. Today, I trimmed the second side of the wick a bit at a time (and test) until it now looks like the wick on a Stardust, with mostly joy. With them that short, you have to remember to tip it to ensure they have some juice. It still gurgles on occasion though.

It's a bit of a juice whore but the clouds of vapour have to come from somewhere. Also, when it's gurgling it means the inner airway has juice which needs to be blown out (another loss of juice).

Not entirely happy with it, but when it's working it's the best :) (leaves a Stardust way behind). Current juice is 35PG/65VG, running on an eGo 650mAh. Is this one just a bit of a dud?

All of mine so far are running well apart from the hiccup with the one mentioned above, which was cured. Having said that I do run with very high VG up to 90%. I am also running a couple of Stardusts and my only problem is they don't carry enough juice!! Again, very high VG, mainly to slow down the fast wicking.

Thanks for the reply, I filled with 100%VG and it still gurgles (but a real *fog* machine). Oh well.

I have several Stardusts and I think they're great too (and a bit more stealth), and I don't mind their capacity but the stone has that "something" extra (can't quite put my finger on it) so I'll buy some more and hope for a better result.

    Cheers
