Stainless Steel Woven Wire Mesh

G'day guys,

I have been wanting to replace the wick for my atomizer, and came across the SS mesh method as a wick. Has anyone given it a go and anyone know where to buy some?

Called a couple of places locally for the mesh, but they had a minimum order of $100

Edit - Just had an idea...Going to try taking out the SS mesh from a sieve

since the usual pitches to use are 325 and 400 tpi, a sieve will have to pretty fine.
so far as I know its not available in oz. I have not found it anyway, maybe silk screening supply companys may have something.
I have been given a small sample to try out in the nhaler ato-miser, not got there just yet. Still some research to do.

the last 2 on the list there are the ones you want, I think thats where mine came from, available in smaller quantitys than what they list at, A4 sheet size.
I think he said it was $35 or so for 2 A4 size sheets of 400 and 325 posted.

Well, maybe if we can get a group buy going, it will be worth buying a $100 sheet. I have a place right-down the road from me I could pick it up from. Don't feel like paying $100 for my own little wick though

Taking a look at that mesh company. They are quite cheap! Maybe will order some from them.

That's correct Stoney, was $35 for 4 sheets (2x 400 and 2x 325) posted, I was lucky when it arrived though as they sent me 4 sheets of the 400 and 3 sheets of the 325.

I like Stoney have not had a chance to get around to using it yet, quite happy with the JW Boge LR cartomizers so haven't bothered using the mesh yet.

 

Aha. Will order some from them then maybe later in the week. How long was delivery time? Included tracking?

 

Took a little over a 1.5 weeks to arrive, there was no tracking on the parcel, I heard about the place on ecf, a number of people over there have given good reports on them as well.

 

You can find cheap mesh coffee filters around the place that'll do the job as well I believe

Cheers for that. But I think for the amount of stainless steel that is on it, I'm better off just paying the $35 shmacko's.

I would be interested in part of a group buy for the proper mesh.
Wonder if I could get SS working in an iAtty..

 

I recommend buying a small bit online to see how it goes (won't be more then $25 for 2 sheets) as I am doing. Then, if you are able to make it work, you can splash some cash for some more

By the way, how long do atomizers usually last?

Huge roll though but quite cheap, enough for at least 100,000 wicks I reckon

 

Gotta watch the metals in that. One way to produce mass amounts of acrolein (toxic substance) from VG is to mix it with oxidized metals, such as the iron oxide or silicon oxide present in the chemical summary.
