    Hi people

All this talk of repairable atomizers set my juices flowing. The chance of me getting one in the near future is very slim, so I set about setting up a ce2, so that I could replace the coil. I know they are cheap, but should the day come when all our gear becomes a banned import, I will be in good shape! At the moment this exercise is not cost effective in time and whiskey. Its taken me the best part of the afternoon to complete three. Time will tell if the crimped joints will hold up??

I am fairly well kitted out with tools and the only thing I had to buy was a couple of Diamond burrs to open up the holes in the ceramic cup to allow the IC pins to sit low enough in the cup. When opening the holes do not use the Black and Decker!! Just poke into the hole and rotate with fingers. It doesn’t take long and its easy to keep track of the depth. Just grind away and occasionally check with a spare pin. You are aiming to get the finished coil in the middle of the side slots in the cup.

When connecting the coil to the conductors, fit a mandrel through the coil so that you have something to push against when joining the pins. I found out to my cost that the original wires had to be replaced as they were solid. The reason is that after soldering to the solid, the wire became very brittle and the pins just broke off.

It’s a nonsense exercise I know, but the wife is not here, and there is plenty of light in the kitchen for me to play. Sorry about the pictures, Lord Litchfield I am not!!!

I don’t expect many will play with this, but for those that do, have fun. Last thing is don’t ever throw you defunct gear away. Its always good for spare parts??

    Hi Robray,

Looks like you have a pretty good handle on what your doing,im just starting to delve into rebuildable and know only what i find in forums and such.

But im keen to learn and like building things but electronics is not my bag,im a carpenter buy trade .

Ive put a order in with php for one of those Genisis Line rebuildable Carts so need to learn a bit more on volts and omh,s etc for when it gets here so i can make a wick and wire it up etc...

What sorta basic tools will i need ..

Read all these posts on mods etc and am quite fascinated by this mod building culture especially the wooden jibs might research and learn some electrics and have a go.

    Hey Moza

For the most part, I have no idea about electronics. I can use a soldering iron, have a very basic idea about volts and things and I like a drink. My biggest problem I cant throw things away, and based on that, its better to fix them than have the missus get on my back. Very infrequently do I play with enough ziggies that will do me any harm. Stick with low voltage only. Need to be carefull with the lithium stuff. Discretion being the better part of valor!!!

As for tools? for ecig stuff, little pokey things, a cheap digital multimeter and a local hardware store. Over the months I have stocked up on resistance wire, wicking material, and a bunch of other stuff that I cant quantify. Like you I cruise the forums and try and keep up with the trends.

I am pretty much set in my ways with regard to vaping gear. I have a soft spot for the ce2 stuff. I do have a Provari and all the little bits that go with it, but I find the wear and tear on attys and carts, not worth the trouble. Not a fan of higher voltages, but I am a minority. I get what I need from eGo batteries.
