5V Mod using single 18650?

Hello everyone!

I'm interested in building a 5v box mod similar to this one.

My electrical knowledge is fairly limited! I know that running this mod on 2x CR123a batteries will give me a 5v output, but I was wondering if I run this mod with a single 18650 battery, would it work at all (at 3.7v), or would it not fire?

If you build it to the schematic using the suggested parts, then no, it wont fire. Do you want a 5v or a 3.7v mod?

Output can be adjusted from 0.6 to 5.1 volts @ 3A

Input voltage range is 3 to 13.8 volts

 

Thanks for the replies guy! I have just decided to build a simple 3.7v box mod with an 18650 battery. Will show you the results when all is done!

PS: What is the best way to ensure that the 510 battery connector doesn't spin within the box when attaching the carto? Should I superglue it to the plastic and hot glue the inside?

Any slight movement and superglue will let go but it's useful for setting the connector into the right position initially. I'd recommend epoxy on the inside but having said that it's not easy to get a good bond metal to plastic.

Ended up just making it a straight 3.7V 18650 basic box mod. Works really well with the LR 510 Boge Cartos.
