What PG/VG ratios are people using?

This has probably been brought up before but I'm not enjoying my DIY that much and wondering if maybe the not so great flavor is due to the high VG content.

Currently I mix about 80VG/20PG
I find PG dehydrates me more and is probably worse for you so I prefer a higher rate VG content but you do loose that throat hit which I want.
I do like the flavors of some of my DIY juices but I find premixed tends to taste a lot better (mt baker, HHV)

Just wondering what ratios people tend to do especially with Juice Factory and Vapoureyes as I just ordered some vaporeyes concentrate and I still have some juicefactory concentrates left.
Especially in consideration to flavor.

Oh and I do let it steep for at least a week and often more. Also I find I get a strong VG or PG taste in my mix very odd kinda strong taste.

What sort of taste ? VG and PG are flavourless

 

I do 50/50 as well. I went down from 70/30 be.comse I found it harsh on my throat and do only 6mg nic. Atbthe very most VG is a bit sweet but both PG & VG are both almost but not entirely tasteless IMO. I have vaped it alone and there is a sweet hint that comes through, though I am not able to describe this very light flavour I got.

 

I don't know it's very hard to explain but it just has this consistent odd taste in the background on almost all concentrates.
I guess it's kinda of a mild chemical kind of taste. It's definitely not sweet. I don't seem to get it in premix ones though.

I want more of a throat hit but I get head aches easy with the e-juice for some reason. It might not be the nicotine but maybe just not used to PG/VG I only vape
around 5mg at the moment for that reason.

 

I use 50/50.....I want throat hit but I also like a few clouds......seems to work for me with either DIY or the few doublers I get.

 

higher PG juice will give more of a throat hit, same with nicotine. Almost none on high VG juice dunno about that taste you're getting though. I guess it may be something in the concentrates.
nic can give you a mild headache kind of thing if you over do it.

 

have to ask what source you have for your PG/VG (brand name)?

 

I use 50/50 or 60% pg mostly and I prefer a lighter flavour so mix 10-12% concentrate where it recommeds 15%. Also I use pg and vg from vaphilia if that helps.

 

May sound silly but where are you storing your juice? And what in?

Anyway I go for max vg where possible. Most juices don't have huge throat hit but I do have some flavours iv made myself that do the job if I feel like I need a throat hit

 

I've got some 50/50... 12mg (found it to be a bit harsh on the throat hit) then got some 80/20 vg/pg with no nic and it's very tasty

I do want throat hit but don't want clouds, The aircraft cabin crew don't like the clouds?

I got my PG/VG from vapeking.
Maybe it is pore quality. I assumed its all good quality from liquid sellers.

 

You might be dehydrated? .... You need to drink heaps more water when vaping. You might also be reacting to the PG. I used to use mainly PG but have since gone to VG and just pump up the wattage for throat hit.

 

Yeah I think so too. One good thing is usually if I get a little head ache I just drink some water and it goes pretty fast.

 

I have found 10mg 40/60 to be my sweet spot. 40% PG does mute the flavour a little but I don't really want much of a throat hit. I only vape at 12-15W and most of my juices still taste delicious.

 

Yeah I think I will bump up the PG from 20% to 40% and see how it goes from there. The only trouble is to experiment with ratios you have to wait at least a week to try it :tongue-new:

 

I was using 60/40 PG/VG @ 12mg but just moved to 50/50 and plan to drop to 9mg in the near future.

 

It also depends on the tank you have. If you use a generic Bottom Dual Coil or top coil. The silicon wicks are too small to completely absorb the VG be.comse it's quite a thick liquid so in those tanks and you will find that it will burn the coil quicker and it won't taste so great. It is preferable to use 50/50 with PG be.comse it will make the liquid thinner enough to be absorbed in the wick. If you get a mechanical MOD or even an MVP and a rebuildable atomizer like a kayfun lite you can go with a 80vg/20vg ratio or straight vg and use organic cotton in the kayfun or maybe try to rebuild your coils using cotton wicks instead. But if you don't like big clouds you can go with a higher ohm/resistance coil. The set up is more expensive and you will need to learn to rebuild the atomisers yourself, there are lots of information in this forum on how to go about it, but it's one way to nullify your concern. The higher VG content are made for rebuildable atomisers so you get heaps of cloud and plenty of flavour.
