    Hi all,

I randomly found the Elusion e-cig site and bought my first e-cigs from them two weeks ago. Immediately stopped smoking be.comse I really preferred the coffee ecig in all ways.

Being as they are horribly expensive I thought I'd just get myself some proper kit and various flavoured juice in larger, cheaper quantities from elsewhere and happily vape away.

However I have found I really don't like any of the other flavours I've got! The cappuccino is like chemical popcorn, the vanilla bean is sort of ok, and the Cinnamon Apple is strictly for when in the mood. Additionally it turns out that the Elusion had substantially more throat hit than I realized, be.comse these seem to have none.

I've come to realize the Elusion coffee flavour must actually have a tobacco flavour base, with something a little sweet and something vaguely coffee.

Has anyone brilliant at deconstructing flavours been able to break things like this down? How about picking the PG/VG ratio?

Can flavours add to the TH of a mix, or is it strictly PG ratio?

In general, do people prefer tobacco taste bases when coming off analogs? I would never have thought there was tobacco flavour in there to start with, but I guess that's understandable by comparison to actual cigarettes.

    Bah, I ramble.

TH can be the pg/vg mix, pg tends to give the sense of more TH, also the level of nicotine is directly related to TH, higher nicotine levels of say 24mg definitely give more TH. There are a couple of TH enhancers, (haven't tried any myself as TH was never that important to me), and I've heard that adding menthol can enhance TH. Others with more experience in this area can probably be of more help here.

As for flavours, remember that your tastes will change as your taste buds and sense of smell come back after quitting smoking. I don't vape any of the flavours I started out with, even though I loved them at the time, my tastes have changed. For most people its just a matter of trying different flavours until you find some you like, or you can always vape unflavoured.

There are lots of reviews of different juices, if you read through a few, and get some small amounts of various juices to try, you will no doubt find something you like. Taste is such a subjective thing though, that you really need to go through the process yourself, as what one vaper likes, others will hate etc.

Personally, when I started vaping, I wanted to stay away from flavours that reminded me of the stinkies, so avoided tobacco flavours, but now that smoking is becoming a distant memory, I'm starting to try a few. A lot of people try and replicate the taste of the stinkies when they start vaping, but end up disappointed, or find that they actually like other flavours better, and that stinkies really didn't taste very nice compared to vape juice.

Hi sassy.. the only advice I can give you is to try loads of different brands and flavours. You will find flavours which you enjoy, but it can take some time to get there. Personally, I would estimate I have had a 1 in 20 success rate in tasting and liking flavours I've tried, and a 1 in 50 or more of flavours I now vape regularly. Out of literally 100s of flavours tasted, I have 5 or 6 I really enjoy. I started with a very expensive cigalike and pre-filled cartridges which I very much enjoyed and were about half the price of smoking. I was elated to be saving half the money I spent smoking. However, these days, vaping could cost me less than $5 per week, if I wasn't a greedy piggy who enjoys new things and exploring new flavours and who now has the discretionary pocket money to pursue my new hobby.

Good luck finding what you enjoy!

Heh heh, I understand about the greedy piggy thing.

I've made a spreadsheet that tracks how much I've spent on vaping and how much I would have spent on cigarettes, and it calculates the date on which I have started saving money. That date keeps getting pushed out :). Particularly after my disappointment with my new juices last night, which resulted in a consultation with a bottle of wine and $200 spent at TJF and others.

I don't think I've ever been annoyed at a 4-day weekend before, but dammit this Easter is interfering with my deliveries!!!

LOL Welcome to the maddening world of vaping, vapemail and postal services!

I find nicotine is the main determinant regarding throat hit, bearing in mind that everyone's different, and that PG is equally important in most peoples' experience, given its irritant properties for some. And yes, some will have shot tastebuds for quite a while, whereas others will have few issues with them recovering.

For me it's more about the flavours for the throat hit, now I've arrived at a stable nic level. And some very surprising results from my own choices. For example, many of my fruits are very mild on the throat, and yet one of my florals (rose!) gives the biggest TH of all. Who'd have thought?

So yeah, try out a few and you'll probably be surprised, too.

I can understand your frustration. I started on cigalikes as well (although a much cheaper version) and was really underwhelmed when I got the 'proper' kit - less throat hit than I had with a cigalike and 0mg, for one thing. I did start with a tobacco flavour but it was sweet and was not like having a cigarette - I still prefer tobacco flavours. The few fruit and other non tobacco flavours I've tried are often too sickly sweet and strong for me or 'soft' (cappuchino, cola). The only exceptions I have found so far are a cinnamon, a coffee, osmanthus (no idea what that actually is) and a pineapple/tobacco mint mix - these I really like.

I actually ordered ~10 10ml bottles of all kinds of flavours from Health Cabin to start with and since then, every now and then I order a few small bottles from FastTech to try.

From my original order I remember I really liked the Turkish tobacco, the Arabic tobacco and the Gudang Guram.

You know you can more than likely top your elusions up with juice - I've done that with mine.
