Just made a mix up for a mate at work who seems to be showing signs of a slight PG intolerance. Mixed it as high with VG as possible and thinned down with some vodka - totally impressed!! Might switch to high VG juices myself, filled the room with clouds of vapor after three drags, doesnt get much better than that!!

Does using a high VG juice dry you out as much as a 50/50 juice? I tend to find after a heavy vaping session I get weird signs like cold and flu symptoms which I had always thought was the PG. I also thought the flavor tasted better with the higher VG but some other forums suggest you loose flavor when using high VG Juices...

Gotta agree with you on the high vg juices jman. I only vape high vg now, about 20% or less pg (some of the pg comes from the concentrates), I've found no loss of flavour using mostly vg, and it is definitely less drying IMHO. I've also found no loss of TH either, and this has also been confirmed by other vapers who have tried my mixes. I also like lots of vapour, so high vg suits me down to the ground. :)

    Jman,
One that's got me stumped and am presently looking in to it. PG to me tastes a very bitter, hence I can't quite understand how it's supposed to "carry the flavour" (despite everything I've come across). VG tastes sweet to me. Go figure !!!!!!
For the moment I'm towing the line. What I have found out (from personal experience), is that the more the VG the harder it is to wick the stuff, perhaps vodka is the key (or somehow thinning it down). Maybe one who's had a lot more experience can enlighten us.
    Cheers

You can use de-ionised or purified water (get it from the chemist, don't use distilled water from woolies :) ) to thin the vg a little bit, or vodka :) Although I have no problem with wicking using 20% or less pg, it has been hot here lately so the high vg mixes haven't needed any thinning at all. VG definitely has a slightly sweet taste to it.

    Spud,
Yep I can understand what you say (living in WA), so as a rule of thumb, if you were to thin it down with one of the above, what percentage are we talking ?
So in a mix for example you would use .....
    10 % whatever,
    5 % whatever
    2 % whatever
    Sweetner 2%
Thinner (water or vodka) ...... ?

I'm always up for experimentation and in pursuit of a good vape. I distill my own poison so have plenty of stuff I can dilute back to 44% LOL.

Interested to see a mix too spud.

PG &VG are both hygroscopic. It can grab water from anywhere, including you. VG just seems to be better. Have no read about why yet. Assume be.comse vg is thicker, it grabs more from air than you.

    High VG is great.

    Interested how spud mixes.
my latest was a 10ml test mix.
    10%nicotine (Exclude )

3%Lime concentrate(also included a drop of some fruity stuff)
    21%PG
    73%VG
    3% H20

at the moment I'm testing vg%-(flavour%-nic%-pg%)/10=H2O%. Was thinking vg%-(flavour%-pg%)/10=H20% might be better for me but thick for some.
used up all my 36mg nic so I'll be testing 10% PG next.

The numbers above are not from ejuicemeup. Don't use it that much.
    pg 0ml
    vg 6.7ml
    Nic 36mg 75%pg 2.8ml
    water 0.3ml
    flavour 0.3ml

Not saving mixes yet. Writing on bottles. Some contain H20 mixed to 0.13% saline.

I've used vodka at 2% and water at 3-5% depending on how much pg was in the flavourings and the nic base. With both vodka and water I did find a slight drop in the amount of vapour produced, but it wasn't a huge drop so not a problem. With evods and other bcc clearos I generally don't bother thinning, but do if I'm using a ss mesh wick on an RBA. Silica wicks on RBAs are not a problem with wicking thicker juice, but the mesh ones don't tend to wick as well.

My Dad distills his own schnapps and it is some powerful stuff, I probably would use it for thinning :)

Interesting comments sod - I agree with the taste of PG but for some reason can only taste it in certain flavors, I find most fruits or sweeter juices have a bitter taste in PG. I also find VG to taste a little sweet - I supercharged a juice with a hella load of VG once when I was experimenting and it got very sweet to the point where I couldnt vape it properly. But I did this mix properly and there is no issues, has a nice round taste and the flavor is right on the line just how I like it. I think I am going to be mixing this way moving forward.

I mixed this one as follows for 10ml juice:
36mg nic in 100% PG but mixed at 12mg.
    10% capella peaches and cream
1 drop per ml of sweetner
    5% vodka to thin down

I have not tried with distilled water before, but from what I read the distilled water or vodka both work. You are meant to let the juice sit for a day with the lid off to allow the alcohol to evaporate with vodka - obviously while mixing I tried it straight away, didnt notice any difference really and the vodka is not noticeable in the juice. Would be interested to know if people prefer the vodka or distilled water though?

Personally, although it is distilled I would think water could still allow bacteria such as yeast to grow in the juice, especially with such a low PG percentage overall but maybe I am just over exaggerating? I vape out 10ml in a day or so, probably not enough time for any bacteria to grow!

Further to my last with spudd mentioning the schnapps - I absolutely love southern comfort, was thinking what might happen if I use this to thin out the juice too, might add a really nice taste, would just have to mix it with the right concentrate to avoid making rocket fuel.

I can't taste the vodka in the juice either, so it may be the way to go if you are worried about bacteria growth. I use purified water, (the type used to irrigate the eyes, from the chemist, its pretty cheap, and comes sealed in a sterile container. Of course once you break the seal it is no longer sterile, but I've never noticed any sort of bacterial growth, the heat of the atomiser would kill most bacteria anyway, so probably nothing to worry about. It may also be wise to just make 10ml at a time if you're worried, as larger amounts are likely to be in the bottle for longer :)

I also sterilise all my juice bottles before use, as you don't know where they've been stored, and giving them a clean before use also removes a lot of the plastic smell. Or you can use glass bottle, but I find the plastic squeezable ones much easier to use than glass.

5% Vodka @ 2.5ml eLiquid per day (say 16 hours) means you are inhaling approx. 0.125ml of vodka over that time, might show up but doubt it.

Southern comfort has a lot of sugar in it, and would likely wreck your coils and gunk everything up, burnt sugar also tastes really blah :)

Not wrong about the sugar... I doubt you would blow over on a RBT though - most things say to let the juice breathe for a day with the cap off before you vape it which will allow the alcohol content in the juice to evaporate. I dont know how accurate this would be, I dont know that it would totally evaporate but I guess it would be similar to cough syrup and not really show up. Depends on the person too I guess and how your body deals with alcohol...
