Overseas ejuices like El Torro, Johnson Creek, Halo, etc, all have this aromatic vibe to them.

Every one of my mixes, and every canuk ejuice doubler lacks its completely. After vaping an overseas ejuice, I honestly begin to feel depressed about my home grown, and canuk doubler mixes.

What the hell is this chemical? What are the Americans putting in that gives their ejuices that aromatic-ness that lingers in the nostrils.

Has anyone got a clue as to what I'm talking about? Surely someone understands. Surely someone knows what this chemical is.

The perfumery trade uses/used to use Ambergris .... the bile secretion from a Sperm Whale ... now mainly taken over by synthetics in all but the most expensive perfumes ... I often .comghed at the thought of posh ladies smearing whale vomit on their skin to smell nice ... but even to this day , modern chemistry cannot duplicate it entirely .
There are a lot of aromatic fixatives , both organic and man made , it wouldn't surprise me if some juice manufacturers use them .

( I have a small piece of Ambergris myself about 50grams , collected from a Portland Vic beach in 1937 .. not by me :p .... its actually way more valuable than gold ... but is illegal to import of export in canada under CITES )

Yeah, but you started the discussion down the bodily fluids path. Once it starts, it gets away from you very quick! :)

    Mavinry,
I could be wrong here, but I've bought enough juice from overseas, locally and DIY mixes (and compared them as well as a lot of research on the net) to try and give you some sort of answer. Taking in to account the fact that all concentrates are different, I reckon that the answer lies in the percentages used in the mixing and the quality of the concentrates used.

The result of all this, is that when I DIY I try to get the combined percentages of a recipe around the 20% to 25% mark. I usually hover around 18-24%. Sometimes it's utter crap (I'm still learning what goes with what) but when it turns out it is spectacular with that "aroma" you are trying to describe. Without going in to a lot of other factors that are involved in mixing I've also noticed that if the percentage is less than in this range (20-25%), after a month or so the mix is very wishy washy (may have been great to start with) and that re-inforces my belief that flavours in vaping tend to "tone down" or lose their potency over time.

Hmm, it could possibly just be the amount of flavour used. I just think there's more to it.

I'm going to try something Ive been meaning to do for some time which is to mix the super alcohol concentrates with tobacco absolute. Tobacco Absolute has a particular aromtic-ness that could prove to be the missing part of the mix. I've just never tried using it with super alcohol concentrates, which I believe is what many of the US ejuice makers are using.

Interesting point Mavin and TA is something I haven't tried yet, mainly be.comse I seem to be gravitating a little away from the tobacco recipes (although that guevarra from HOL has had my attention for some time now but haven't done anything about it yet). You have me curious now.
