howdy folks - ive had it in the back of my mind to buy some glass bottles to store some nic liquid in the freezer as is generally recommended by everyone - i was in aldi a few days ago and saw their ginger beer bottles with screw tops and thought they might be ideal --- they are 375ml - size of a beer stubby - with screw cap which has an inner seal - dunno what the seal is made of

you can stand them upright in the freezer so whatever liquid is inside isnt gonna eat away at the cap's seal and they seem to be a nice convenient size

should i proceed with these? if so anyone know how i might sterilise them?

Would be better than plastic, even a jam jar would be better than plastic for long term storage. I doubt the seal would pose much of an issue as it wouldn't be in contact with the liquid anyway.

I use these things Wiltronics - Glass Bottles Reagent Amber Narrow Mouth have a few in 500ml, 250ml and 125ml

Just pour boiling water into them and leave it then pour out, do this three times after a thorough rinse and it should be fine, best of luck they look sturdy.

they look great cmb - is the idea to fill the bottle as much as possible leaving as little air inside the bottle as you can? ie if a bottle is half full then the liquid will go off faster than if the bottle was fully full?? - if you know what i mean

Yeah pretty much you'll need to leave a bit of air in there in case it expands, but I reckon as long as it is in glass and in the freezer it will be fine. I have stuff that's been in a half full bottle in the freezer for about 18 months and it is as good as the day I got it.

Well you could also consider buying some Milton's sterilising solution.. It's about $5 for a 1 litre bottle at the supermarket, in the baby section.
Otherwise, if you put them in a pot of cold water, on a small trivet or cake cooler wire frame thingie, and bring it to the boil, let it boil for 10 minutes, then fish them out hot, they'll be as sterile as can be.
The glass won't break unless the temperature changes quickly.

Sodium metabisulfate is the home brew stuff, Av.

But other stuff will work as the others have said.

I like the 100ml Brown Glass Seal Reagent Bottle . Nice wide base and mouth, no problems with tipping and good access to the contents. I initially wash them with boiled, distilled water and then fill them with unflavoured LN.
Some go in the freezer and can be removed individually rather than defrosting a large bottle.

They look exactly like the sample bottles I used to use when I worked in a lab, if they are the same, then they are fine to store and freeze. Good idea to store in smaller bottles, as thawing and then refreezing the remainder could degrade the nicotine. I reckon the ones with the ground glass stoppers would be perfect for steeping.

Not absolutely necessary, there isn't much that will survive in a mix of nicotine & PG, which is one reason I use PG base for my nicotine. If using VG base there is a small risk(we're talking 1% or less risk) of it becoming infected outside of the fridge/freezer & even less inside the fridge/freezer.
A good rinse & dry of the container you are putting your nicotine into is all that is really needed IMO, sterilizing, while a good practice isn't something you need to be fastidious about.
Of course the lower the nicotine concentration & higher the VG ratio, the greater the risk of microbial infection but there is very little chance of it ever happening.

I am more concerned about dust, dirt or other contaminants in my juice bottles, of any size, than I am about microbial infection. This doesn't mean I handle my liquids unhygenically, it just means I am aware that the risk of infections are minute.
