Hello all, Got pg and vg.. Separate .. Any suggestion for the ratio or will a 50/50 be ok? Also I have LorAnn oils ( various flavours) I'm a no nic person .. Just trying simple things for now, eg: cola, marshmellow, coffee, choc, vanilla butter, bubble gum and cotton candy.. Trying small amounts for now.. 5ml.. Any suggestions / hints or tips .. Many thanks.. Lisa.. Using a ego ce5.
Best bet is to just try 50/50 first, then work from there. If the PG is too harsh, or you're not getting enough vapour for your liking, then just chop and change. Small amounts like 5ml in a 10ml bottle is good to start with, be.comse you then then add stuff until you get to 10 without changing bottles so much. Good luck and have some fun
If you want to use less flavoring, then I'd be using a 70/30 PG/VG mix, the more VG you use, the less flavor you can taste. An 80/20 PG/VG will give you more flavor & a bit less vapor, plus it may increase the TH(throat hit), for me though the amount of PG has little effect on TH, it's the nic that gives this.
Ok all this is interesting.. ( maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew) with the DIY.. Guess everyone's different.. Some trial n error.. Just with the flavour adding side.. Do I just use drops or mix a little flavour to a small amount of vg/pg then blend to taste to main quantity? ( hope I haven't confused you all.. ) ( think I have) might ask to see if anyone will give me a master class in juice creation.. Thank you for your experience and knowledge ..
I find it easy to make a batch of pg/vg base to your preferred ratio in a 30ml plastic dropper bottle. Then when making diy concoctions drip 50 drops of ur base into a small bottle (2ml, 5ml or 10 ml bottle) and for every drop of flavouring u add it equals 2%. or easier 100 drops of base in a small bottle for every drop of flavouring equals 1%. record ur recipes and taste after some steeping time. Adjust ur recipe to ur findings and start again or add more flavour.
Pretty much what I was going to reply with. I do however have one more suggestion. Select one method of measurement (drops or by millilitres) and stick to just that one. Drops will be fine when doing small volumes and will give you approximate ratios. However if you start doing larger volumes (50ml+) counting out 20 drops/ml becomes a real pain in the butt. I learnt that the hard way blending custom dye batches for customers, I started baking my base solutions by using teaspoons of dry dye and while it worked ok a few times it was a little hit and miss, now I use a set of scales for the powered dye and a graduated cylinder for the solvents. In short I can now recreate ANY custom colour I have ever made. One final observation is that it is easier to precisely mix large volumes than small ones.
With Lorann, start with 10% flavouring, and try around 80:20 pg:vg. For 5 mL of liquid, I'd go .5mL flavour, 3.5 mL pg and 1 mL of vg. Start there, and then alter to suit your own palette. PG = more flavour VG = better vapour and muted flavour.
Such a lot of valuable information.. Thank you all so very much.. I'll have a go n see what eventuates.. Slowly.. Once again thanks.. For your time and patience and sharing ..
What are you using to measure things in? A few 1mL pipettes or 1mL syringes would probably help a lot with your mixing of small volumes.
Try Breakthru's ejuice me up calculator (link on the forum somewhere) a bit confusing at first but has a heap of recipes and shows both drops and ml in the calculations.
Start with a lower amount, maybe 1ml instead of 5ml. At least then you are not wasting liquid if you dont like it. Also you might wanna buy a dripper to test flavors. Btw, we are having a Brisbane vape meet at the Calamvale Hotel this Sunday 2pm if you wanna swing by. Plenty who will give you tips and ideas on mixing.
I have both pipettes and syringes.. Thought a lot and read a bit before trying.. Thank you all so much.. Your help is fantastic and I'm so thankful to you all... Will post later if there's success.. Or failure even.. Have a fantastic day everyone..
Urica.. As much as I would love to come.. I have family commitments .. Tho thank you for the offer....
Hey all, made a small batch of juice yesterday.. It's a little dark ( I'm guessing as it is vanilla) .. Thanks for the suggestion of a drip tip ( look into that this weekend) .. I'll have a try of the juice also on the weekend.. Again .. Thank you all.. Enjoy the long weekend.. ( for some its long for me it's time n a half.. Woohoo) Thanks Lisa
