Looking for DIY help!

LIFE STORY: had a beer at a pub and saw this guy smoking inside, it was cold and I had to go outside to smoke... I had drank about 5 beers and 6 DJ and coke, AKA was not thinking to much, so I thought he is smoking f*** it and sparked up half way down my smoke i was getting dragged out into the cold, funny i did it so i wouldn't have to go into the cold anyway ended up there. out comes this guy who was smoking inside. we had a long chat and he explained about ecigs so here i am

after doing lots of reading ordered my twist and stardust had some amazing juice and decided to make my own, I order base from 48mg 500ml vg base.

It arrived with a grape flavor consecrate for free so i mixed a 10ml bottle 20 drops grape, 4.5 -5 ml vg, 2.5ml pg and 2.5ml nic. End product was clear :S and tasted weird, I thought it was the nicotine base, but i think its more like it need to steep.

I tried the same thing with a peach I got and it is better but still a hint of a weird taste when exhaling from my nose without the vaper entering my lungs.

could i get some pointers or advice

I had lasted 5 or 6 days without a smoke and now back on them. ran out of good juice. I ordered some more but want to get the hang of this DIY thing, more so i can vape over the weekend not smoke.

I would recommend getting yourself some doublers from vapeking or vaping mad. Then you just have to mix them 50/50 with your nic, seeing as you have 48mg nic you would end up with 24mg mixed juice. If that is too strong for you you just add some pg or vg with your nic before you mix it with your doubler. I havent tried the nic from that place you mentioned, but it is cheap so maybe you get what you pay for and it may have a weird taste? Also grab empty bottles and a syringe or pipette from vapingmad or vapeking in the diy sections of the websites.

 

got all that stuff from kingvape like 20 bottles lol and everything 250ml pg 350ml vg all set. just need the skills lol

 

As ccc says, just add 15 mls of your nicotine liquid to the bottle that the doubler comes in and you will have 24mg juice ready to vape
If you want to make a PG/VG ratio, or a lower nicotine concentration then use a mixing calculator..something like this: Combined E-Liquids

 

If you like JD & coke, then you like cola, at least with bourbon lol
VapeKing i-mix cola is the best cola concentate I have tried, ok it isn't coke & it doesn't have JD in it but it is good. It tastes more like a lolly cola than coke but might be good for you to try.

 

Has anyone tried mixing with scales? I have some 200g 0.01g scales. seems like its easier to mix with.

turns out 20 drops of PG = 0.63g
20 drops of VG = 1.30g well thought it would work hahah

 

I use scales all the time now .. It's so much easier but then I don't use concentrates.
1ml = .8gm or thereabouts which can make it a bit tricky but I make my recipes to make 24gm so it will almost fill a 30ml bottle.

im going to post in this thread so i dont have to create another newbie thread.

im planning on starting to make my own juice as well. i get that its as simple as half and half and to use the calculator, but whats confusing me is that do i buy both PG and VG based nicotine liquid? so its 1/4 48mg pg nicotine, 1/4 48mg vg nicotine,then 1/2 a doubler?

 

What exactly do you have now, and do you know what PG/vg ratio you want?

 

Usually you would not buy 2 different types of nic, just get PG based nic as its easier to work with. For the doubler you can choose different ratios of PG to vg, say 50/50. Half your 48mg PG nic and half the doubler would end up with 24mg juice at a ratio of 75% PG 25% vg

 

i havent bought anything yet, just doing some reasearch first. so i only need to buy 100% PG nicotine liquid? and say I want more VG for more vape,when i buy the doubler i just make sure I get one with more VG base, and itll work out too?

 

There are a few ways to do it, you can get nicotine premixed at different ratios, or you can get higher strength nic but anything higher than 48mg has to be handled with extreme care as it is dangerous at higher concentrations, for the doubler you can get higher vg if you want more vapour

 

Have a read of the other threads, lots of good info about mixing, just hard to go into detail on the phone

I didn't want to start a new thread so thought I would just ask a few DIY questions here.

When steeping do you take the cap off?

Do people add the nic before steeping or after once they like a flavour?

Does anyone have a spreadsheet template that keeps track of what they are doing?

I don't steep with the cap off as this will turn the nicotine red/orange.
I steep with nicotine added however others get the flavour right then add nicotine. I've personally never made anything 'horrible' so it's all vapeable.
