So I've dived into the DIY Juice. A new hobby! lol Keep seeing flavour percentages of 10-15 or even 20%. I've done a few tests myself so far. After reading a brilliant idea about mixing four different strength bottles with no nic. I proceeded with this technique.
    Made four 2ml mixes of 75/25 PG/VG with PA Strawberry flavour. 2% 4% 7% and 10%
Sat down with a friend. (non vaper, but smoker) The 2% was nice. A mild but smooth genuine kind of Strawberry Flavour. 4% Richer flavour, but maybe just a little lollyish tasting. 7% ewww.. Getting a little perfumey & almost sickly tasting, and 10% well. THink it was almost tasteless, but the wife was nearly choking on the smell wafting out..lol
I've found the same with most of the concentrates I've used. The PA Caramel Cuppacino is wickedly strong. Even 0.5% is enough for plenty of flavour. Try putting one drop in your next cup of coffee, and see how strong it tastes! Nice though.lol
Is there something wrong with me? Oversensitive?
Finding it pretty hard to find much accurate info. Any help more than welcome!

Mostly using Flavour Art, and Perfumers Apprentice flavourings

There's no set rule, all supplier's concentrates require different percentages and everyone has different taste as well ;) I've used as low as 1.5% upto 6% depending on the suppier and the flavour.

Suck it and see is the rule :)

Would you lower those percentages if you were doing multiple flavourings, or try to keep your total fairly low too? I have researched quite a bit. As you say. Taste is different for everyone, but it seems most data is american, and maybe they like their flavours sickly sweet, and overpowering? lol

Hey davee, I have too been doing the DIY for a few weeks now.
I have made some of my own recipes, some have gone from a version 1 all the way to a version 5 :)
My favorite so far is something a called Green Goblin, be.comse for some reason the flavour reminds me of the Colour green and if it was something edible I would have gobbled it up :)
I have found that there is no set unless to how much to use, just what works for you and your tastes.

Mine are usually simple, but when I do mix multiple I will go slightly above 2.5% ... but I like mine weakish ... a lot of vendor flavours seem overpowering.

Different to most vapours, I do have trouble tasting most flavours.
I get jealous of the converts that post their sense of taste have returned after a few weeks.
Two & a half years of vaping & I still have no sense of taste.

For the last two months I have mixed all my flavours @ 20%.
    Most are still steeping.
I've also stopped buying flavours down to about four that I know give me throat hit.
( why pay for flavours I can't taste?)

Will you be sharing those recipes at some time, or handing them down through the generations? ;) Sounds very interesting!

I use a program on my iPad called liquix for mixing my own recipes.
It is good for me be.comse it also works as an inventory too.
And saves them and I can mix up any amount I want and any pg/VG ratio I want.

I also have a butter Menthol recipe that my wife can't smell enough of.
every time I take a toot and blow it out she moans and goes mmmmmmm :)
I don't mind sharing, I just don't want to get picked on if someone doesnt like them, and start teasing me about my tastes.
I have a pretty good rum and coke recipe too.

I was going to make some smart arsed comment about your taste buds needing a rest from the flavour hammering, but seeing as I'm a noobie with hardly a clue, and your a senior member with probably a lot more knowledge than me I shall refrain... :)
I certainly know what you mean about the rarity of flavours with throat hit though.. I got some Perique Black, and Tobacco absolute to try to boost a few weak tobacco's. Haven't tried it yet though..

I hear ya there Flea ... I am anosmic ( complete permanent lack of sense of smell) , listening to people rave over flavours does my head in lol
I tend to try and go for the more "dirty" tobaccos and menthols , as they are really the only things that I can pick up on .
Current witches brew for me ...24mg of 70:30 PG/VG ..3% Tobacco absolute ... and just enough menthol to give it a burn on inhale ( maybe 10% of a commercial chinese menthol mix )
