Hi guys, I literally am starting to vape this week. I don't want to have to keep getting nicotine juice over here all the time so I am getting 150ml or so of 36mg unflavoured that I want to dilute down to 18mg with my own flavours. I have been told that if I just use 0mg flavoured juices bought locally, the flavours will be muted too much and not very nice. Can anyone give me a "mixing for dummies" runthrough please? Or atleast point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance :)

Hi Druidcarey and welcome to your new life..........first off to make life real simple......buy doublers from your favourite vendor.......Vapebar, Juicewhore, Vapeking all sell doublers.......then when your 36mg unflavoured nic arrives mix your doublers and your nic in a 50:50 ratio or 1:1-----> so 10ml of unflavoured 36mg nic to 10ml of doubler....whammo 18mg e-juice ready to vape........try using a e-juice calculator to mix different strengths, I use this one---------> eJuice Recipe Calculator , but I'm sure other members will link other calculators for you. 0mg juices bought locally will be ready-to-vape juices and will dilute the flavour when mixed with unflavoured nic.......BUY DOUBLERS FOR EASE OF USE it doesn't get much simpler than that.....what setup are you using?

If I may make a suggestion.......grab your self some "Stardusts" or CE4+ clearomisers from the same vendor you grab the doublers from..... they will make life so much easier and your vaping journey will begin much smoother....they are easy to fill and screw straight on to you eGo batteries, give good throat hit and good vapor....I like them and use them as do quite alot of other members here.....good life span and cheap.....keep asking and your questions will be answered

Thankyou again, you have been a great help already. This forum rocks. there is sooooo much information and products out there that it is making my head hurt lol. I will definately look into getting some clearomizers, can I pre fill these and carry them with me full? or will they just leak everywhere if I do that?

Hiya Druid , welcome to the forums .... if you click on the individual product at Juicewhore ( handmade e-Juice) there are drop down boxes on the description which allow you to customize size and mix ... one of these otions is " DOUBLER " :)
Costs a dollar or two more , but like you have already learnt , makes mixing as simple as it gets !
    Happy Vaping !

Those are concentrates & IMO better than using doublers.
There are 2 main ways of mixing your own juice, both use unflavored nic. Doublers, as you have already been told & concentrates + PG &/or VG.
So a typical concentrate recipe is :
5ml unflavored nic 36mg in PG base
1ml flavor concentrate (counted as PG in PG/VG ratio)
    2ml VG
    2ml PG
This gives you juice that has 10% flavor, is 80/20 PG/VG & is 18mg/ml nic.
The b.comty of using concentrates is , you can adjust the flavor much more easily than you can using a doubler, if you wanted 20% flavor in the above recipe, you add 2 ml concentrate & 1ml PG, instead of 1ml conc. & 2ml PG. Alternatively, if you made the 10% flavor juice & find it is not quite enough flavor, you can add more drops of concentrate to the juice until you dial it in to the way you like it.
As an approximation 30 drops = 1ml so 15 drops = 0.5ml 10 drops = 0.3ml etc. So adding an extra 10 drops is giving you roughly 13% flavor (10% + 3%) but you don't need to worry too much about %, it is all about what works for you.
You can also adjust the amounts of PG & VG to give you other ratios of PG/VG easily with the above recipe.

With a doubler, you would do something like this:
    5ml 36mg nic juice in 50/50 PG/VG
    5ml 100% PG doubler
gives you 18mg/ml nic juice in 75/25 PG/VG
Now suppose the flavor is too weak, what do you do? Add more doubler of course but there is a problem here, to get the same amount of extra flavor as you would from a concentrate, you need to add a lot more doubler. As a rough guide 1 part concentrate = 5 parts doubler for flavor. So 1 ml concentrate = 5ml doubler. So adding more doubler to get a stronger flavor is going to dilute the nic strength of your juice quite a bit.

Either way works but I prefer concentrates, which are just as easy to use but allow me to get the flavor I want to my own taste & not to how a vendor thinks it should taste, plus using concentrates has an added bonus of being a bit cheaper generally.

Thanks Noe, all of this is definately giving me food for thought, and that was explained in a way I understood it! I have been checking out some of the flavours avaliable, and I gotta say I can't wait to try a whole bunch. It may sound weird but I'm looking forward to trying the roast chicken/beef flavours :p

1+ Noel - concentrates so you keep the flavours simple and to YOUR taste. It's only my opinion but vaping a cocktail of different flavour ingredients as per doublers may not be the way to go. But horses for courses you need to try both and then decide.

I'm vaping a flavor right now (my own cherry cigar) that uses 7 different concentrates, lol there is nothing like it anywhere except in my own bottle!
This is advanced mixing though & takes time to get right.
For simple concentrates, 1 or 2 flavors, anyone can get it right. I still vape single flavors but I have over time developed a few more complex flavors that I really enjoy, which no vendor anywhere has in a doubler.

I hear what you say Noe and it is possible to brew up some wicked concoctions, but the more flavours you use, each of which is made up of a number of different chemicals, you end up vaping a veritable chemical factory of vapour. Then you have to consider the unknown interactions between each of the large number of chemicals. This could be no problem or a major problem we just don't know at this stage. We do know VG and PG is fairly innocuous and we know there is no serious risk from nicotine at the level we use. We also know from the Clearstream studies that simple concentrate flavours made by FlavArt combined with PG VG and Nicotine have no detrimental effect on a biological model of the type of tissue found in lungs. Outside of that we are largely in the dark. Of course we know ecig vaping is thousands of times safer than smoking but are we pushing the safety boat out a bit by brewing complex chemicals to vape?

This could be complete crap or have some credibility and so contains its own health warning it is just my conjecture. But might be worth thinking about.

The only reason I suggested doublers is be.comse it is the best/easiest way to begin with........not confusing, just plain straight up 1:1 mixing, using concentrates can get a little confusing for newbies.
Fair enough you can make your own concoctions up and strengths of flavour with concentrates... and more power to you:D......but I have a tendency to mix arse juice.......no-one wants arse juice....eeeeewwwwwww

I'm going to start with doublers to get the ball rolling and I think I will definately have a play around with concentrates while I have some doublers made up incase they turn into ass juice, so I still have useable vape :)

Trust Noe to come along and give very bad advice to a Newbie! :)

Don't confuse the guy, he's just starting out. Let him mix his doublers 50/50 with his nic.

What's he going to do with concentrates? Keep mixing and hoping he will find the right amount of concentrate to use, that he's going to find a flavour he likes to vape, figure out the right PG/VG ratio to use, buy DIY equipment, etc.., etc..? And then until he figures out all this crap he can't vape anything? Come on Noe, you've got to be kidding me!
Sure, everyone finds what works for them but how do you know it will work for this guy? Even if it did eventually, it's not easy. I like to use triplers and 100mg nic and I use concentrates too but I'm not going to go and suggest that to him. I would suggest exactly what PHUCKDUP2 has! You're just going to put the poor guy off of vaping and that's not what any of us want!

Let the guy grasp eveything and then he can naturally progress in the direction of his choosing.

It would be like me telling a guy who is just about to get his 'P' plates to buy a forumla one car. Sure it's great vehicle but it's too complicated and far too much for a beginner driver.

Noe, I'm just in disblief that you would ever suggest something so ridiculous!

Anyway, in regards, to a doubler costing $1-2 more. It works out cheaper if you consider that you will make twice as much eliquid from it. If you consider the fact that the nic, PG and VG used to mix the doubler is such a small and cheap amount, you're getting more bang for your buck, plus nicotine in your liquid.

150mL of 36mg is a good place to start. It ma last you 2 months or so. It's not a large amount though. Once you get the hang of things and find out what you like, you can order a larger amount. Just make sure to order well and truly before you run out, otherwise you could end up without nic for a little while! I would suggest when you have about 50mL left, just to be on the safe side.

Im worried about bringing too much over at once tbh. Think 300ml is the most i feel comfortable with and I definately do NOT feel comfortable handling 100% lol. It's not like I can lick it off my hand if I spill it :p The idea of concentrates does interest me, but only when I have some spare juice I can afford to waste.
