    Hi all,

I was buying my flavours at 80% VG and mixing them to a 12mg/ml nic strength and was enjoying them immensely. Next time I ordered the same flavours, I ordered them at 80% PG instead ...... And the flavour sucked! Tasted TOTALLY different. Would swapping them from 80%VG to 80%PG really make that huge a difference to the taste? I have ordered more of the same flavours but this time back to the old 80%VG base and PREY that they taste as good as I remember.

hmm, i was vaping pg and nic or VG and nic and the pg tastes sweeter to me than vg.
i think it may come down to specific atty temps .. or my taste buds suck, equally likely.
I do not get much of any flavour from vg, tastes quite neutral.

I read somewhere that some of the base is converted to glucose, not sure on the chemistry.

Flavours from Vaping Mad. They have 50/50, 80%VG and 80%PG as flavour base options.

I guess we'll find out, I pick these latest flavours up this morning.

Here's something I posted on someones thread, should give you a better understanding of why the VG taste better if you are mixing it as I stated.

PS. Did you notice more vapor with the flavour that didn't taste as nice?

    3.1ml PG 36mg
    0.2ml VG
    1.8ml PG
    5ml Doubler Flavour

That makes 10ml of 12mg/ml e-liquid. (or so I am led to believe) :)

That's the recipe I have always used since I started vaping. I am honestly hopeless at maths and all these e-liquid calculators do my head in. So I asked someone when I first joined AVF how to mix doublers to 12mg/ml strength and this is what they replied with, so this is what I have been using. I don't know if it's right or wrong ..... lol.

That would make 10.1;) I see what you mean with your Maths...

Okay I have no idea then haha, if you mixed 50/50 like I stated then that would be the case.

So did you get more vapor with the PG or VG doubler? Or was it the same?

LOL, I know it comes to 10.1 you clown .... haha.

Addiction/Subtraction isn't my problem. Fractions, percentages and anything else that isn't addition or subtraction and shit are :)

Well, here's where my conundrum starts.

Initially I ordered a particular flavour at 80% VG and it was grand. Fantastic, loved it.
The next time I ordered, I must have had a brain fart and ordered it at 80% PG. That was terrible, nothing at all like the first batch.

Queue this thread asking about flavour and PG/VG making a hug difference.

Since then, I ordered the same flavour again at 80% VG and it still tastes terrible.

The juice maker informs me that nothing has been changed in the recipe. I am using the same batch of nic base, PG and VG as when I mixed it up the first time. The colour however is totally different the last two times both with PG and VG bases, so I am at a loss to explain it.

Anyway, I have since moved on from that flavour and am trying to find others (both from the same vendor and different vendors) that appeal to me which is a mission in itself, considering I seem to have the most difficult to please taste buds in all of canada.

Taken 2 minutes ago. The two on the right are Gold Cross PG and the two on the left are .comldings. I changed to Gold Cross at the suggestion of the vendor.

I would just like to add that in no way am I bagging out the vendor. I dig Vaping Mad and the service offered by Elise is excellent as far as I am concerned. I would just like to be able to wrap my head around what's happening.

You just have weird taste buds E... PG is supposed to be the flavour carrier and therefor taste stronger... Maybe you just like weaker flavour in your juice but i can remember when you started posting nothing was doing it for you until you found VM juice. I get 60/40 pg/vg from them and i find them to be really strong but thats how i like it.

I find that my taste buds respond differently to a particular flavour over time. I'll get over a flavour and find it too sweet etc, but then come back to it a few weeks later and it's delicious again. I think there are many variables that contribute to our response to flavours eg, health, mood, previous consumption and of course booze. I'm not saying that this is the answer in your case ElDubya, but it's how my taste buds seem to work.

I might try that flavour again but mix it a little weaker and see what happens. Thanks for all the comments everyone.

Eldubya, question? Have you been using the same vaping gear the whole time or have you switched your delivery method? Different voltages, different cartomisers, clearomisers, atomisers, etc also affect the taste of juice.

Same gear, same everything until I switched to Gold Cross VG as per suggestion. Even that made no difference to taste. I have chalked it up to taste buds being mental :)
