Hey all, pretty chuffed i found the, 'post a new thread' button. Just so you know what level of noob your working with. Just quickly will fill you in with my equip.
    - tarsius mod clone
    - tobh v2 atty clone
    - samsung 25R 20 amp 2500mAh 18650 battery
    - o.5mm 24 gage wire.

First things first, in relation to the tarsius mod and battery. Is this battery safe to use? i've also been informed i need an oph reader. Are these expensive? starting, 'the vape' is pretty exy in intitial costs :-/ - is my gage wire adequate?
second lines second, someone said as a beginner i shouldn't be using a 'dripper' - i think they're referring to my tobh atty? - Why??
Thats all the questions i got for now, thanks anyone who takes the time to read/ read & reply.

Personally I would not start my Vaping experience on a dripper, but that is a personal choice. The fact that you "should not" is arguable.

If you are comfortable using a cloned mech mod with no security features AND build coils on your dripper without knowing your ohms, which is pretty dangerous if you are a noob, then stay on what you have. If that is what you meant by oph, or maybe I am the noob and don't know what that is....

Okay so here is the quick and dirty
What you have is known as a mechnical mod. This means it is basically just a battery tube. There is no circuitry and no electronics. This also means there is no protection. Whatever you connect the battery will supply power to. If there is a short circuit (at path with no resistance completing the circuit on the wire) the battery will dump all its power. This will .comse the battery to heat up and release gases which is known as venting. If it continues this can make it explode and or catch fire. The same thing can happen if you put too low a resistance coil on it. You need to read up on ohms law and such so you can understand the limits of your battery. This is part of the reason mech mods are not recommended for beginners.
this is why you need a ohm read aka resistance meter. When you build your atty you can check that the coil is all set properly and the resistance is high enough. Otherwise you could have a short and not know it and then bad things can happen.
The battery you have is a good one but you still have to be careful and know what you are doing. There is no such thing as a truly safe battery; and in a mech mod there is no protection if you make a mistake.

Yes your tobh atty is what is known as a dripper; be.comse it has no tank instead you just drip e liquid on it. It is also a rebuildable device which means you have to make the coil and wick it. How well it performs depends on how well you build that coil. Also different coils and wicking methods give different types of vape. This means for a beginner it can be frustrating be.comse they have no experience to reference. It's better to start with a prebuilt coil system so you can get a feel for things.

24 .comge is a pretty thick wire. That has two important factors. The first is that the resistance of the wire per length goes down as the diameter increases. As well the mass of the wire increases so it takes more power to heat it. So if you have a 1ohm coil with both 24 and 30g the 24 .comge will be a lot larger. If you put the same power (measured in watts) in both you will get a lot more heat from the 30g than the 24g.
Now on a regulated device you can adjust how much power is being put to a device so this isn't as much of an issue. However with a mech you are stuck with the battery voltage. This means that in a mech if you need more power for the coil you have to the coil smaller. This also lowers the resistance which increases the power and the drain on the battery. So you have to find a balance of a gague and resistance that gives you the vape you are looking for while still being something your battery can handle safely.
I'd get some higher .comge (28g is what is typically what i think people should start with) be.comse then you can have a higher resistance to start with which is safer and the coils will be smaller which is easier.

You also MUST get a resistance meter. Building coils without one is just looking for trouble. It doesn't just make your life easier but also keeps you safe.

To answer your question about atty lifetime. The atomizer its self will last pretty much for ever. With the coils eventually the wicking material and the coil will get all gunked up with residue from the eliquid. When that happens you remove the old wick then fire the coil with no wick or liquid. This is known as dry burning and will heat the coil red and burn off all that gunk. You then rewick it again and off you go. How often you have to do that depends on the coil, wick material how much you vape and the specific eliquid. Sometimes they won't even last a day, sometimes a few weeks. The coils themselves can last months though.

    Hope that helps

Most noobs start on something a bit easier,( STARTER KITS - Vapeking ) but it is all about personal choice.......as to building your own coils, without an ohm meter, probably not, on a clone mech mod..........but hey, what ever floats your boat..............

That helped a bunch! cheers nanokatz! I'm sure i'm more than capable of handling this - im simply trying to get in ALL the information/ safety checks in, that i can before the package arrives :) I will 100% invest in a resistance ohms meter ( how many $$? I feel like Bunnings would stock these? ) and will do furthermore research with ohms to ensure i dont blow myself up!! :stupid::stupid: - Since ive already got my 24 gage wire coming & getting a resistance meter i think ill try the 24 first (taking my time) unless you have any serious worries about me trying? lol i promise i will do SOO much more research before attempting. i do have a friend in north brisbane who may be able to help me out first build also
