Making a flavoured nicotine mix?

Hey guys, just got into the vaping. Have ordered a lot of gear and it's on the way.

Just need to know the basics of mixing my own flavoured nicotine liquid.

Can someone tell me if this is right to make 10ml of 12mg flavoured nicotine with approximately 50/50 PG/VG

5ml of doubled apple flavour 80% PG from VM
5ml of "unflavoured" nicotine 100% VG from HC

If I wanted to make it 40/60 PG/VG

4ml of doubled apple flavour 80% PG from VM
6ml of unflavoured nicotine 100% VG from HC

If I am totally wrong please let me know, thanks guys!

 

Hi there K .. you havent specified at what % your nicotine unflavoured base is , so we wont know if your mixes are correct or not to yield 12mg
if your unflavoured nic is 24mg your first mix will be right , but your second mix will yield 14.4 mg
If your nic is not 24mg , then it will be totally different

You are right to ask advice before experimenting it save a few headaches ... literally !

regarding the PG and VG mix ... I may be wrong , but if the doublers are 80% PG , this would mean they have around 20% VG already in them ( the actual flavouring is a minute amount ) you would need to check this with the manufacturer to confirm the exact mix base in the doublers , but you will have to take that into account too .

 

Hello Special K. The maths are easy - if you want 12mg juice (i.e 12 mg per ml of juice) and making 10ml you need to have 120mg of nicotine in the juice. If your nicotine base juice is 36mg then you need 120/36 = 3.33 ml of nicotine unflavoured and 6.67 ml of flavour and plain VG or PG. In your case 5ml of that would be the doubler apple and the remaining will be plain VG or PG. The exact ration of PG to VG is not really that vital. It is easier to buy the flavour in PG and then use VG nicotine and plain VG to make up the VG component. In the above case if your nicotine is 100mg then the maths are 120mg/100 = 1.2 ml of nicotine and then the rest flavour and plain VG. Or if you are not happy with the maths get one of the many ejuice calculators around.

 

I find the easiest way to get whatever nic level and pg/vg ratio you want is to :
a. buy unflavoured VG nic and plain VG : RTS VAPES Liquid Nicotine (they also sell VG and PG )( you could buy 48mg VG nic and just cut that with plain VG for 24mg) and 100% PG doublers
b. mix your unflavoured nic and VG to double the required strength(for 12mg final product: mix nic and VG to 24mg)
c. 10ml of ready to vape 12mg is then produced by mixing 5ml doubler and 5ml pre-prepared nic :vg/pg ratio is then 50/50

Woops sorry, yes the nicotine is 24mg base.

 

I thought I would not need plain VG since the unflavoured nicotine is 100% VG..

Feels like I'm back in high school doing chemistry.. HATE IT

 

just mix your 24mg vg nic 50/50 with pg doulbler for 12mg juice easy as dont stres it gets easyer

 

Hi k, given your unflavoured nicotine is 24mg/ml, mixing it in this ratio will indeed give you 12mg/ml, but instead of getting 50PG/50VG, you'll end up with 40PG60VG.

No problem, with that Will give more vapour at the expense of a small drop in flavour and throat hit, but it'll be smooth

Meh, I'd get some apple concentrate flavor & mix with plain PG & VG to make juice.
5ml 24mg nic unflavored in PG or VG
1ml - 2ml HC green apple concentrate = 10% -20% flavor (count flavor concentrate as PG in the PG/VG ratio)
3 ml - 4ml PG &/or VG, 3ml with 20% flavor 4ml with 10% flavor

So if you want 60 % VG in the above example, you would use 24mg 100%VG nic, 1ml of VG & 2ml-3ml of PG + flavor.

Much easier to get the flavor% & the PG/VG ratio precise when mixing your own with concentrates.

 

Will it still be the same if my 24mg nicotine came in a 30ml bottle or even 115ml?

 

Yep the quantity doesnt matter, make sure you get a syringe or pipette to extract the nico liquid from the bottle.

I thought that if I only took 5ml from a 30ml bottle of 24mg, it would be on 1/6 of it, so 4mg.. haha

 

k, it's 24mg per ml, so doesn't matter how many ml are in the bottle (as CCC said)

 

In a 30ml bottle of 24mg/ml there is 720mg of nic, in a 115ml bottle of 24mg/ml there is 2760mg of nic.
Each ml has 24 mg of nic no matter the size of the bottles.

 

Nope 5ml X 24mg/ml = 120mg, not 4mg LOL
Mixed 50/50 with flavors, PG &/or VG or with a doubler 5ml of 24mg/ml will give you 10mls of 12mg/ml juice.

If you want a lower strength then you need to reduce the mls of nic added or increase the other components eg. 5ml of 24mg/ml + 10ml of flavor, VG &/or PG or 10ml of doubler gives 15ml of 8mg/ml juice, another example 5ml 24mg/ml + 15 ml of flavor, PG &/or VG or 15ml of doubler with give you 20ml of 6mg/ml juice.
However in the above examples, using doublers at those rates is going to make the flavor very strong, so if you plan to use doublers & need to use more than 50% doubler to get the desired mg/ml juice, then you should also be using PG &/or VG in the juice, so that you are only using 50% doubler, eg. 5ml 24mg/ml nic, 10ml doubler & 5ml PG &/or VG will give you 20ml 6mg/ml juice at the intended flavor ratio of the doubler.
This is why I find it easier to use flavor concentrates PG & VG, it is easier to dial in the proper flavor.

 

gtadmin could you help me please as I know u are good at mixes. I have juice I have made at 12mg 50/50 pg/vg. I want to reduce them to 6mg. How much flavour,PG,Vg would I need to mix with the 12 mg.

 

Same amount ie if you have 10ml now of 12mg 50PG50VG, add 5ml of PG doubler and 5ml of VG0 You'll end up with 20ml @ 6mg 50PG50VG.

Thanks so much. I can see that now. Might have to mix a couple of flavours as I don't have more of some flavours. Its going to be interesting to see what comes out. In a month or so I will be asking the same question to go to 3mg. Hopefully.
