Paypal question

I've just sold some mods in the for sale section & the money was sent using my email to Paypal. The money sent shows up at Paypal & I don't know how to get it. I only have a credit card registered at Paypal & it looks like they can only credit the card with refunds that were paid with that card so it looks like I have to give them my bank details. Do these bank details stay with Paypal for further use or is there some other way to get the money?

 

I just had a look at my paypal control panel and I can remove my account so you shouldn't have a problem.

Seems you can just add or remove accounts and cards at your discretion.

edit - as far as the account details staying with them, I assume they will always have a record. Have you got an account you don't use much?
Perhaps you could give them the details of that one instead of your main account.

 

Thanks Tara I get a bit paranoid putting my bank details online which is a bit silly as there's not much in there.

 

I don't blame you. I opened one specifically for online transactions. My main one has nothing in it either
.....but I hope that may change one day

 

Why not just open a bank account to use just for your PayPal transactions? That's what I did, I only leave like $5 in there and just transfer funds into it when I wish to buy something. If someone sends me money I transfer it from PayPal down into that bank account and then go withdraw those funds.

I guess Tara beat me to it with the same idea lol, Uscomssies don't seem very trusting of online transactions.

I see lots of business provide bank details openly online so I think it must be fairly safe, I think the only thing most people can do with your account number is deposit money. I'm more than happy if someone wants to give me free money, I've almost never got any of my own so I don't really know what I worry about lol

 

Just to add, you can always leave the money in your account, and use it for your next purchase...........

I don't mean to state the obvious but sometimes the simplest things are the hardest to see..........

 

Or you could leave it in your paypal account only to find out your kids have used it up for xbox live purchases and your missus has bought something on ebay :tongue:

 

If you add a bank account you can transfer then after just go in and remove bank account if it makes you nervous.

 

You should get a Paypal debit card order one from their site and then swipe away

 

PayPal is a good service. So, I recommend you keep the money there. You can easily purchase online pretty much anything using your PayPal. It won't be long.

 

I have not had a bad experience with PayPal but it is notorious for locking up funds, and I have read horror stories about bureaucracy and not being able to keep funds. Be careful that you do not keep too much money in the account, I also recommend starting a new PayPal bank account to transfer funds too.

 

Go for the card + bank account, paypal is pretty well secure as much as anything else out there for the most part. Bank account takes a few days, card is in your pocket. Card is much, much faster but atm fees are always stupid

 

No worries, I prefer keeping my stuff in multiple places. PayPal is good in terms of buying something on the net. But I never trust anything to the fullest. Thanks for the advice, btw.

 

That's what I did as well, I have a different bank account just for my PayPal account. Although, like you, I don't know what my worries are since I don't have much money in my other account as well. Haha! But I guess I'm hoping that would change in the future. Lol. Plus, with the internet, you can never be too sure. It's better to leave your personal information and real bank account information out of it. Hackers are just too clever nowadays.:/
