Hi I am Phil from Adelaide. Just got my Vaporfi Platinum pro and trying to work out proper vaping technique.
Went a bit crazy with clove base juice - as I mainly smoked Kretek cigs - not sure i like it too much... a bit heavy on the throat.
Any advice on how to Vape appreciated!
Any idea why it is such a strong throat hit?

    Hi Phil, welcome aboard!

Cloves ! ugghhh ! but to each their own!

What nic strength are you running at?

have you modified your inhale ? dont vape like you used to smoke.

I coach new vapers to drag at about half the 'pace' you would on a cig.... count to 5 as you do, then release the fire button. Modify to suit yourself.

also need to think if you lung inhale, or mouth inhale then lung.

Hi altered, The nic is 2.4%
I cleaned out my tank and now I have Double espresso with cream! Not quite so harsh, but still got a major kick on the throat. I got the variable airflow control to, and allowing more air nelps but you get less vapor.
Lung inhale canes in and out (throat) Mouth then lung seems better.
I am surprise .comse my normal cigs were gudang grams from indo - strong as!

"The nic is 2.4%" ........... I'm guessing that's 24mg/ml which is generally high for Vaping.

I started on 12mg/ml and then soon reduced to 9 mg/ml. I'm now Vaping at 6mg/ml and doing fine. (about 4mils a day)
I'd try halving your Nic content for starters.

And it will take you a while to get used to lung inhaling the vapor just like smoking. (do you remember how much you coughed when you first started smoking?)

    Hi Phil and welcome.

Before you start cutting back on your nic, may I ask you a couple of questions? Firstly, what is the ratio of pg/vg you are using? For example 80pg/20vg or 70pg/30vg, etc.

The reason I ask is that a higher PG ratio will give you a stronger flavour and bigger throat hit whereas a higher VG ratio will give you more vaper and is a little kinder on your throat.

It depends on a lot of things, how heavy a smoker are you and how long you've been smoking, etc. Everyone is different and has different needs. I started on 24mg as I was a long time heavy smoker. It is a little tricky when you first start vaping. I found it a little strong to start with but I cut back on the PG and found a 50pg/50vg blend worked out best for me. Your choice but if I were you, I would try cutting back on the PG first and then if you feel it's still too harsh, then cut the nic back to 18mg which is often recommended for people starting out.

Once you master the art of vaping, which really doesn't take that long, you will know when your ready to cut down on the nic. It took me a while but I cut my ciggies down to half in just a few days.

I've been vaping around 2.5 years now and am still happily vaping 18mg and don't ever even think about ciggies anymore.

Give yourself a chance and you will be over the moon with the results. Vaping is the BEST thing ever invented :)

    Cheers,
    Cath
