There are a lot of new Vapers joining the forum and I have been worried about their expectations of the entire vaping experience. Anything that gets you of ciggies is worth the effort so be sensible and understand the foibles. I see a lot of grumbling about postal & delivery times whether if be from local vendors or from overseas. Postal delays are not the comlt of the vendor. Most vendors have terms and conditions where they will state their expected processing time. Quicker turnarounds are a bonus and not the norm. When ordering from overseas be aware of public holidays that impact their country and yours. These public holidays will put additional stress on already choked mail systems. Murphy's law states that if its urgent it will be late. Dead on arrival (DOA) vaping equipment. Most vaping gear is extraordinarily cheap and you should always expect a percentage of failures. Get enough so it will not matter if one or two fail. It's your choice whether or not you can be bothered going through the return process. Vendors are burnt all the time by people playing the freebie game by saying something does not work and expecting replacements so expect some sort of scepticism and requests for proof. Most vendors have some sort of help desk or ticket system to deal with problems. Find out how it works and use it, you should get better communication around the issues. Adding last minute instructions to your Paypal payment doesn't work in a lot of cases. If you have last minute instructions use the help desk system and mark it urgent you have a better chance of getting it seen in a timely manner. Murphy's law states if its urgent it will be DOA. Vaping equipment is fiddly and takes time to understand. Almost all of it needs some tweaking to work properly with your vaping technique. There are so many options to choose so have patience and take the time to research the item before you get it. Always have a simple fallback setup that you can go back to if the new gear is not working for you. Murphy's law states that if you need it to work NOW it won't. What Eliquid do you recommend has to be the most common question asked. 100 people will give you 100 different answers. Its a journey that your personal taste buds take you on. Keep tasting different ones, swap with vaping buddies, buy samples. Murphy's law states that if everyone likes it, you won't.
But I want it , and I want it NOWWWWWWWwwwwwww ( rolls on floor and throws tanty ...) Oops sorry , was doing a Gen Y impersonation and got stuck in character
i would never try and tell someone if you buy this, this and that bit of gear, you're going to have a wonderful vaping experience and never need to get anything else. and i'd never tell anyone getting into vaping is easy or straight forward. it's a massively steep learning curve just for the basics. like what clearo/atty/carto suits them, what battery/mod suits them, what juice flavours they like, what vgg ratio is good for them, and what nic level works for them. then there's chargers and bottles and syringes and drip tips and replacement coils and on and on and on. and that's before you even get into the really advanced stuff like rba's etc. on of the best aspects of vaping ... the fact that it is so able to be taylored to every individual ... is also one of the things that makes it so challenging and hard. everyone is different and no one can ever tell someone else exactly what will work for them. it can get real complicated real quick. then add in the frustration of slow postage times and cheap gear that can fail, and you have a huge challenge on your hands. luckily the benefits of vaping far outweigh any of the difficulties (for me, at least) and i was able to get a set up working well enough for me before i got disillusioned about it all
That is why I tell people to just buy themselves a couple of ego batteries in case 1 is DOA, a couple of EVOD clearo's and some premixed juice, then they can work out if vaping is for them or not. Lets face it not everyone is going to stay with it, a good example is one of my mates and my son they have no interest at all in mixing their own. When I looked at Noe's list which is good I was over whelmed with what I thought I had to buy and thought if this is what you need to get started maybe it's not for me. So what I did was I bought what I suggest to my friends, decided to stay with it THEN I bought the extra stuff along with some more hardware, now I am venturing into DIY and enjoying it. Another factor is budget, if people think that is what they need they start adding up the cost and their mindset changes. What was a good idea now starts to look like an expensive idea. I think the KISS principle is best for beginners or there is a chance they can get overload on the info.
I blew past this comment with a flip attitude but you are spot on FM. It's not just a GenY issue. This vaping lark is a lightbulb moment for a lot of people and they so badly want to stop smoking now that a delay for delivery is a real problem. Unfortunately unless you are lucky enough to be near a physical B&M vendor you are either going to have to shell out the big bucks for same day delivery and beg the vendor for same day processing or WAIT a few days.
If you're new, do your research!!! It seems comnting at the start, but the more knowledge you have, the better your experience will be. Lets face it, its a bit of reading and learning, not some gruelling exercise. If you want simple and easy, thats fine too, but even that will take a bit of learning. Waiting for vape mail is a pain, but put the time to good use, eg: learn everything you can while you're waiting, and the time passes much quicker. When your new gear arrives, you can get stuck in without having to learn everything in an hour Those weeks you wait are really a dot compared to your whole life. Have fun with it, be forgiving with yourself, and others, be patient, and be aware of shiney fever
