How did you come across ecigs for the first time

As the title says ..

I came across it on the WP forum by accident while at work.
I am curious as to how much effect the loss of the WP forum may affect take up.

maybe I am a rarity ..

 

I first discovered it mid-late 2009 with my discovery of them on DX. Ordered in a unit, it was shit and forgot about it again until about January 2010.

I am a poster on SomethingAwful.com and they have an ecig thread in the gadgets section I came across, it was at that time I realised there were more to
ecigs then this DX shit, I went from reading the entire SA thread and WP thread and placing orders for decent hardware.

 

saw it on the tourist with johnny depp, and katherine heigl on David letterman, few months later thought i would try my token once a year quit effort with a shitty elusion and havent smoked in 9 months

 

I first saw something on the news then somehow I came across the katherine heigl on David letterman video on youtube. After lots of researching I came across this site and was more than happy with the advice I got here. I dont bother with any other ecig forums now.

 

In 2009 an American friend sent me a link to the "super-sexy" blu-cig ads (everything starts with the porn industry!). We made fun of it, thought it was stupid, who on earth would want to smoke electronically?! A few months later I was talking to another friend about wanting to quit and he mentioned ecigs as well. We both trawled ECF and ended up with 410's and 510's and they worked for a while. I did go back to smoking after numerous problems with my 510 setup, but I'm happy to say that this time around the ego is working out VERY well for me.

So yeah, I think I found out through word of mouth... and maybe youtube for the blu-cig lolz.

I actually came across it on whirlpool too. I often read the gadgets section to look for new toys and found the thread there. A few google searches later and I ended up at HC.

 

Was searching isohunt.com for a torrent and one of those annoying ads for an overpriced 510 type comght my eye. Couldn't believe I'd never heard of them before especially as my body was telling me to get away from the smoke again. Lots of research later and reading this forum and the rest is history. Feel much, much better and haven't looked back!

 

Bought one in a night market in malaysia. It was a piece of crap but got me interested enough to do some research whereupon I found WP and this forum.

 

I found the thread on WP.
I have whimed the mod that closed the thread and asked that a new thread be opened and HoPeFuLLL be banned as its his actions that has forced the closing.
I would urge everybody do the same, I would never have seen these if it wasnt for WP.

Cant remember to be honest. I guess I heard about it online somewhere sometime ago and and when I was contemplating giving up back in Jan the notion popped up in my head, so I went forth and googled....

I came across it predominantly from the WP thread too. I'd heard about e-cigs in some random way that I can't remember (probably a story on A Current Affair or the like) but I never bothered following up on it becomse I thought (a) you couldn't get them incom, and (b) they probably wouldn't have worked anyway (patches and gum never did). However, when I stumbled across the thread on WP (a forum I hold in the highest regard) and read of the successes of so many I dug deeper and decided to give the e-cig a try.

Both my wife and myself stopped smoking analogs on the day the e-cigs arrived after smoking 90 a day between us for 40+ years. That was on 29 Mar 2011, since then I've spent about $1200 on a huge stash of stuff and we've still saved well over $6K between us, and feel better too. I had a cough that was nearly killing me, it's gone now.

I fear there will be a lot of folk who'll miss out on all that now e-cigs are banned on WP. I'm really very sad.

 

Saw a small news article many many years ago when they were first designed. tracked them down a few years later.

 

I will whim him too. Good idea.

 

I initially read about it on WP too. Back about Part 2. Then forgot about it altogether until I picked it up again in Part 7. After which I actually bought some gear and haven't smoked since either.. Bit over a month now.

I've already sent a pm to spocky (the mod that closed the thread), suggesting that it would be more beneficial to remove the bad element from the thread, rather than the thread itself.

It doesn't seem to make much sense and it's lazy moderation to close an important topic becomse you can't be bothered taking action against individuals.

Hi...first post

My boss has a mate that started selling crappy kits about 2 years ago, I got a sample and the thing died within 2 days, threw it in the bin and didn't think about it again.
Two weeks ago I saw qwerty post on Ocom showing off some kit, I asked some questions there and in IRC. My ego-t arrived on Tuesday and i've gone from 20+ a day down to two...really happy so far!
Now to start trying flavours other than tobacco
