Well that looks a bit expensive to me, the eGo k units are going to be almost the same & much cheaper. If you want the best unit for your situation then the Provari is the choice you will eventually want to go to but like you said start cheap & then upgrade, after making some savings by not smoking

My standard advice for newbies is below, with a few extras with your situation in mind :

HealthCabin is a good place to start, use the DHL shipping option & you should have nic juice inside a week, while there there are a few more things to get too.

Nic juice, normally 1 of these but with xmas coming 2 might be a better idea, I would normally say get the 36mg PG base (75%PG+25%VG) but if they have no stock of that right now instead get 36mg 100%PG :

Then you will need some doublers from an canuk vendor, use a Vendor like VapeKing, Vaping Mad or JuiceWhore but the pre-mixed juice you will be getting at HC will be enough to keep you going for 2-3 weeks at least, so you can try your new toys for a week before needing to order doublers & other bits you may want.

 

ok, the K looks like a good option, I think i've seen a few of them floating about, very steampunk, I actually still have a ton of juice left from the last time I did things, need to water it down however as it is 54mg... and already apple flavoured, hmm I liked the coconut back when, cannot understand the cigarette flavours myself

I started vaping on December 3rd, 2012 with a Greensmoke starter kit and have not looked back. My last tobacco cigarette was on December 2nd, 2012.

I'm interested in all the other equipment out there - looks like a lot of fun. But for now, the Greensmoke stuff is making me very happy.

The thing with provari/lavatube/etc etc is that they generally don't need to have parts replaced. Sure the ego's may seem cheap, but you are inevitably going to break it. Wether it be the button, the thin as hell wires, to even the battery. What happens when you need to fix those? You buy a new one. With the provari, these are none issues apart from the batteries.

Batteries will last you well into 2 years, and the build quality of the provari and strudiness of the device means that you can drop it, and it is STILL alive, unlike the ego's.... they generally snap off at the 510 connection. The initial buy price is a lil scary at times, but having bought one 2 weeks into my vaping journey, and have not had a SINGLE issue with the original provari/batteries/charger since i bought it.

Have sold it onto a friend that just started vaping about 3 months ago (and he's a rough bastard that works in a gold mine in the mill) and it's working like the day i gave it to him, and being satin still looks like the day i gave it to him too!

To make it easier to swallow.... 6 months of smoking = 2k-3k, provari = $350~, win win i my book.... i'm WELL ahead with that purchase....... just the rest of the stuff i've bought along the 6 months is what's holding me back!

How much of the 54mg stuff do you have?
I imagine it is single flavored, so "watering it down" will reduce the flavor too. What I would do is get some HC Green Apple flavor concentrate an a couple of bottles each of PG & VG to mix the 54mg/ml with.
To mix 30 ml you'll need this recipe:
10ml 54mg/ml juice
4ml HC Green Apple concentrate
16ml combined PG & VG

Since I don't know the PG/VG ration of the 54mg/ml juice you have, I can't be more specific but you should be aiming for a 80/20 or 75/25 PG/VG ratio. Count the flavor as PG in the ratio calculation.

Also it is going to be better if you start a thread below rather than us filling the welcome thread with your questions & replies

 

Thanks. Yeah, they are pricey but still considerably cheaper than puffing away on real cigs. I'm just happy to be off tobacco for now and I'm sure I'll get stuck into other gear soon enough. I love to tinker.

Hello all,

20 year smoker, stopped the day I received my vaping starter kit(Ego compact K recommended by Noe…thank you, sir) a few weeks ago. I've since added a mini vivi nova and ego twist to the arsenal.

Enjoyed some nice Mt Baker Vapor juice, but under-ordered and am now vaping some horrible super-fruity-cough-medicine-like juice which nonetheless keeps me off cigarettes. Next order from Mt Baker can't come soon enough.
