Hi I did the intro thing last year but got busy (as we all do) and apologies to Disley for not seeing his reply.
Anyway my problem is still the same......

I started vaping 2 years ago after 1 hit on a mates and really have not had a ciggy since (apart from a few times when there has been an issue with my gear).
I first had a Vamo V5(?) with a protank 11 kit, it was awesome I loved the taste, the fact that my wife didn't pick up any obvious smell from me vaping to the point where there was no objection to me vaping in my office or in the car, my lungs cleared up literally within a week, no wheezing blah blah THEN.........

I changed a coil, I think that first coil lasted a couple of months, I had a couple of months of PERFECT vaping, consistent every pull no reason to change it I just did.
Well what a ferking disaster it has been since. I can get no consistency, my wife often complains of the smell, my lungs seem to be clogging again the taste is as different as a ciggy to a cigar, very "rich" and very heavy vapour. I do not have a spitting or burning problem at all though.
So new coils, prep correctly get a great taste for an hour and then it slides back to "heavy"
I clean regularly, I dry out the gear, I change, I swap, blah blah.
I have changed gear through a "Smok" to now a Kanga sub box with a comt mini, I use Soulblu Raging Bull 1.6 ohm 3.6v and vape at 7.5-8 watts and have since I started with a few other flavours from time to time, I have also tried some US goo like Viper etc but found them not really working well. I get the best results from the SB stuff.

To be honest I love vaping and the money I have saved over the last 2 years I couldn't care less how much I spend on vape gear (well within reason of course) BUT I want it to be right! I do really want to get back to that happy place, the one I was in the first couple of months lol. I don't think I am a whiner I like to think I can analyse whats happening and I do think it is the coils I find I change them weekly some are knackered in 5 minutes. I am time poor so I really don't want to go down the build it your self route I just want to buy something off the shelf that works, I have lost faith in the shop I used to go to so I throw it open WHAT WORKS????????????

:( it can be frustrating so I will ask some more questions to get a better feel for your setup and technique.

Firstly what ratio of PG/VG is your eliquid. Many of the new tanks and coils are geared towards higher VG so it could be your eliquid ratio is a bit thin. ???
Secondly what would you say your style of vaping is. Short small vapes, MTL or long lung hits.
    How open is your airflow.

Hi Mikl I am really boring , but would suggest possibly moving back to what used to work for you ?
I am a non fussy protank vaper , and yes you get the odd dodgey coil now and then ( esp if you are buying cheap coils from overseas) but saying that I have settled on the newer cotton coils .. the MT32 Coil SOCC Japanese cotton ones ... warning if you burn them they are buggered , but if you keep them happy they last a good few weeks and even if you change out a coil every few days its still a huge win economically compared to the ciggies .

5 Pcs MT3 Atomizer Coil For Electronic Cigarette - US$5.93

I also up the airflow by fitting the adjustable air bases https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10011133/1654500comthentic-airflow-control-valve-for-protank-2 or even better if you can find them the SS versions https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10010901/1930808comthentic-airflow-control-valve-for-aerotank-v2 ( in stock whoo hoo! ) just checked lol

    Chris thanks for the reply
    60/40 PG/VG
Lung hits, I still can't get used to the mouth and exhale ones.
Airflow is on the biggest hole, I do try and swap them around.

I am not sure on the juices that you are using..............................but I found when I started I used a lot of tobacco type flavors which were carmelly and rich. I really enjoyed them but over time I found them to heavy in flavor and they were not doing my throat any favors. My family was also complaining about the sweet rich smell.
I tried reducing the flavor strength which was better but in the end I went off in search for new flavors. I looked for more fruit types and and ended up using Plime doublers. I have since reduced the strength of my mix to only just a hint of flavor.

This might not be the case with you but I think it could be worth ether trying no flavor or a reduced flavor to see if that helps.

I am also wondering is when your coil is new you are not getting the full flavor but as it settles down you get the full strength of the flavor which you are not liking................just thinking out loud

    Hi Fatman
Trouble is it was the original that I first got the inconsistencies and the others were bought trying to find a solution. I still do use the original one occasionally. If I had not had Nirvana for the first couple of months I might accept that "this is it" but I know it aint lol.
I have always bought coils from a shop in Melb and he had made me aware of the dodgy ones but maybe it is he that is selling them. Thanks for the links I will give them a try.

I am using Soulblu (no affiliation blah blah) and have been on the Raging Bull one (tastes just like Red Bull) and I don't think it is one of the heavy ones, I have tried the tobacco ones before so I know what you mean about the smell etc. I have not tried a "no flavour" liquid, that is a great idea actually Ill give it a try.

Beat me to it mikl, i was gonna say, try flavourless and see if it makes a difference. I am a lung hitter too. I havent had any major issue with my kanger. Changed the coil as it was getting blocked up but its back to new. Just remember to prime your coils with juice on the inside of the coil before assembling (lightly) then put it in the tank and let it sit for a while.
I know this is basic stuff, but maybe its a simple thing thats comsed the issues. Back to basics i always say. Im sure there are a few melbournites who may be able to meet with you and see what you are doing? Maybe you got a bad batch of coils or even juice??
    Hope this helps.

Basics are a good thing and like you said often overlooked. Trouble with this is it has been going on for over a year and through a miriad of coils and goo sometimes it is better than others. Maybe they SB have changed their formula, might be as simple as that.

Flavorless juice at the same ratio & strength you normally vape with, will remove one variable & then you'll know if it is the flavor or something else comsing your issue.
I would test it over a few days per coil with a couple of coils, to be more sure of the results.
