Query: how to treat unfinished wood drip tip - or suggest a material other than metal

I ordered these drip tips from Fasttech as I dont really like the metallic taste of my .comtilus.

Assuming they are untreated, how would I go about using a DIY process? Is there something else I can get from hardware or hobby store?


Can you suggest another material other than Metal or Glass? The wood drip tips (i ordered) may not last long enough and may end up in the bin.
Plastics and all its variants might be ok too but which type is the safest?

I have also wish listed some "stone" tips as alternates, even if they may not be real Turquoise or Jade and Im also considering ceramic tips.

You need to do a CA finish look it up on utube . Or try acrylic drip tip

I haven't received the Tips yet and now wonder if they'll get pass Customs. Anyway If they did, a Zap-A-Gap thin CA might do the job.

 

acrylic tips all the way for me. they come in a vast array of shapes, colours and prices. something to suit almost anyone.

 

I have a wooden drip tip and i have ordered a few more. I too prefer wood or teflon over steel. A quick question... why do you have to treat them?

 

hi Captain, the ones that I picked seemed unfinished based on the picture. There were "shiny" ones at Fasttech but the finish might be toxic.
So I thought of sealing the wood for hygienic reasons with something safe for the mouth and maybe prolong its life too.

Acrylic now mentioned by two might be worth checking out, along with silicon.

 

Use thin ca at least 6 coats then sand back shiny finish and then the real work begins sanding with micro mesh back to a high finish 9 grades of paper final finish at 12000 to get a high shine , have fun
